Pointless credit application - what affect?

Hi,

My father in law is useless on computers, he wanted to apply for a credit card so i was showing him what you do on a NAtwest application. Some of the information on it was correct and some was just off the top of my head. Anyway i never thought a credit search would be done until the end of the application when you press submit, i was wrong.

To my supprise NAtwest did a search on me which is on my credit file, can i get that removed as applying for mortgage soon. My credit is very good and dont want this search to have a negative impact.

  • If you could just get a credit search removed I'm sure everyone would be using your story if it was possible.

    I'm short don't think you'll have a chance.

If you saw the application you would see this wasnt ever supposed to be submitted, for example i put employer as "accounts r us" as it was the first thing to come to my head, i never for one second thought it would be submitted if i dint press a submit at the end, i just closed the application after i showed him arrghhhhh

Would 1 search have much impact on a mortgage application. My credit score was 999, 971 now!
  • You are not for real, really?!?

You'll probably see a fraud flag raised too if you provided false details....

Yes it will cause problems for a mortgage app.

The credit score means nada though. Unless you live in a fantasy world where unicorns roam free.

Yeah - if the employee/time in job/time at address etc data from this application is compared to the data used for your mortgage application it could trigger all sorts of alerts.

I'd speak to Experian and see what they say.

What may happen is, if you've provided some details which were correct and some which aren't....it will be flagged with NH.

Also what may happen is NATWEST file a CIFAS marker. So what were the false details you provided, apart from employer?

Correct name, d/o/b, phone number, the house i own (but is rented out). False occupation (accountant as was top of list), false employer name and address.

    Cant believe this is happening!

Just checked credit file again and doesnt show any of them letters, just looks the same as the other searches.
