    Hi,

I activated the cashback yesterday, but I still just have offers pending.

How did it take for offers to appear for other people?

    Thanks

    Mine came immediately.

Do you ever spend using your Halifax debit or credit card?

Yes, not really at the stores mentioned in the thread, but I do use it.

I *think* it takes account of Debit Card spending as opposed to credit card.
But you can use your credit card to benefit from the offers.
Click on each personalised offer in Online or Mobile Banking to activate it - no tricky vouchers or codes to worry about.

Shop with your Halifax debit card - or Halifax credit card if you're the account holder - in line with the retailer's offer conditions.

Cashback will be paid into your Halifax bank account on or before the last work day of the following month.

The Morrisons deal seems like a good one. The terms and conditions seem very "light" though - they don't seem to exclude gift card purchases? So you could buy £100 giftcards before the offer expires and then spend at Morrisons at your leisure. Or you could buy your shopping, then get the remainder as cashback from the till?

It only says that Petrol and Morrisons Cellar are excluded. I don't think that's 100% clear, because it doesn't specifically state that you can't buy any alcohol. I know that some Morrison's stores have a completely separate alcohol section with that name, but I don't remember ordinary stores having that title for their alcohol aisles.

So although it seems you can get £100 giftcards or cashback, you can't buy any alcohol...don't want to be caught out and not get what I was expecting!

Well so far I think its useless. If anything its p*ssed me off to find other people are getting more discount on the same offers. Basically saying, we like you better?

    I got
Hertz (To my knowledge you need a credit card to rent a car, which I have but not a Halifax one)
Marriott Hotel - Never stayed in one in my life
    New Look - I'm a guy
Argos, The only one i'd use, and its 10% and some people got 20%

New Look do men's clothing also, or if you've a wife or girl friend why not treat her? :D

Typical British attitude, get something for nothing and still whinge. Do you not think within time more offers will come on from different organistions?

Yes, once you activate an offer, any debit or credit cards you hold with Halifax will be recognised for spending in the relevant shops.

I believe they are also person specific, so if you have a joint account and you get the offer but your partner doesn't, spending on their card won't earn cashback.

You can also change the account cashback is paid to if you'd rather have it saved separately.
  • How to get the cash back deals you want.

I pretty much always shop at Morrison s as it’s on my doorstep.

When this scheme launched i didn't get the cash back deal for them, I guess they know I shop there anyway. What i did, over a month was to withdraw cash before i went into the store and then pay with cash. Within a month i got the 20% offer. I guess, they 'wanted me back' I then used that offer for a month before it Disappeared. I've just started the cycle again and it’s just come back.

This may not work for all stores. but it’s working for me.

Not sure if it knows your withdrawing from a Morrison’s cash-point. I always make sure i don’t, just in case!

    Worth a go people.
