Its not rocket science!
I settled with Amazon in the end. But later cancelled when I bought a hard disk recorder - I now have more movies saved down than I have time to watch!!
It's a free trial so you can see if you like them. If you don't, cancel - fine - that's why it's a free TRIAL.
If you don't cancel in time however and end up having to pay then also fine - but don't complain about it!0 -
No,try expressing your difference of opinion on this public open forum in an un-nasty way,its not relevant whether you think they are wrong.
It is relevant to me whether or not i think they are right or wrong.
How does agreeing with a post deem my reply to be nasty?
Just incase you forgot, my original post was:Ill second that.
Ill leave it to you to work out where the "nastiness" was in that.0 -
Caller: Hi, LoveFees. Thanks for the offer of the 14 day trial. I've sampled it but decided not to go ahead with a full subscription. So. . . I'm ringing you to let you know on what is the 12th day of my 14-day trial.
LoveFees: Ya boo. Too late, sucker. We're gonna sign you up.
Caller: No, you don't understand. Your company said I could cancel my 14 trial period any time up to 14 days. Not 12.
LoveFees: Try complaining on the Vent board on MSE then.
So caller tries complaining on the vent board on MSE and gets the same response here to her perfectly legitimate post as from LoveFees.
Wow. Howzzat for a double dose of the worst possible luck?0 -

i think agreeing with someone who says" serves you right" and accuses you of "moaning"-is agreeing with a nasty comment. If someone spoke to me on a shop like that i wouldnt call it pleasant. My last post on the subject.0 -
Look guys, I'm new to this site. I thought my post would have been helfpul. I wasn't having a go at anyone and as I stressed I do think it's a good service. I did try and cancel well within the trial period, that is the point, not because I'm a greedy, freeloader, but because I knew I wasn't going to make good use of the service. But never mind, it's just my hard luck for not realising first class return post, meant 'allow 5 days'.
I do apologise for posting this item - I never thought I would get such a hostile and nasty response. I won't be posting anything again.0 -
emma -- you weren't being naive and there's no need to apologise.
Some of the responses you received here were so obviously ill-judged as to be not worth bothering about.
As to the issue at hand, viz: when is a 14 day trial not a 14 day trial, then the answer is as you discovered:
when LoveFees decides it's actually only 12 days. . . but takes care to hide that information from the consumer.
LoveFees and its tactics have been comprehensively hammered on various MSE threads totalling hundreds of posts for several months, and deservedly so.
Your experience continues to demonstrate the wisdom of keeping well clear of it. As for your experience where this thread is concerned, don't be put off by the fact that there will always be a few posters -- a very few, where MSE is concerned -- who are intemperate.0 -
who are intemperate
I wasnt being excessive with my post so I dont know why your saying that0 -
In my case I joined up to a month's free trial and even got some quidco cashback for it - but I did it because I fancied joining a DVD rental company. They were good, so I stayed - used the promotion exactly as it was intended.
So your experience was different...
Lovefilm have had an appalling reputation for *years* for charging thousands of people before the due date and also denying that they'd received returned films to the point that advice was given to only return DVD's by recorded delivery.
If you want to Google them you'll be reading about them for a month. How about not just doing it to rip off Lovefilm then?0
