Intu Lakeside new parking rules

Intu Lakeside shopping center are introducing parking control from the 1st of october, here

They seem to be doing it themselves rather than using one of the usual scammer companies, I wonder if they are members of the BPA?

Well if that is the case, then we on this forum need to hold up Intu Lakeside as a shining example of how a massive retail car park with c13,000 free parking spaces DOESN'T need the scammers!

''Enforcement will be conducted sensitively and reasonably, rather than with an excessive zero tolerance approach...

...This has not been designed as a profit-making scheme as any money that is brought in will be used to cover the costs of running the enforcement programme (licenses, staff and signage).”
The scheme will launch on 1st October and will be managed by an on-site team. Intu Lakeside will be overseeing the scheme itself, rather than bringing in a third party contractor, to ensure it is run sensitively and primarily for its customers’ benefit.''

    :T:T:T

    We shall see...tentative clapping!

I suspect they'll join the BPA AOS scheme but if they are true to their word then this is the future or retail car parks, managed in-house by teams who actually understand the meaning of customer service and whose agenda is hopefully not to make money out of it.

  • The new rules are, you can't park in a disabled bay or parent and baby bay unless you are disabled or have a baby with you.

Which is exactly as it should be, ideally (except the parent & child bays aren't that important, not on a par with the disabled bays). :)

I have my reservations on this, we shall see how this pans out when we see the first ticket, and how much it is and is it a genuine amount and excessive, anything more than £15-£20 then it's an unlawful penalty

Was there any need for the bit in brackets ?
It just proves you have never tried to get a baby out of a car seat while standing in a 1 foot gap :)

Eta- Although it appear from your signature you would park anywhere.

    ????????????

You obviously have no idea how much time and effort C-M puts into helping posters who have had unlawful charges levied on them by parking companies which regularly flout the law - in particularly the Equality Act 2010 provisions, of which she is the acknowledged forum expert.

And what about you then? Why would you manhandle someone else's child in one of those bays?

Think you'll find that coupon has 4 kids, and she most certainly has gone through the process of taking kids out of cars.

The reason why there is a distinction between the two is that disabled bays are provision that is offered, if it is then the Equality Act 2010 must be abided by, child and parent bays are just a gimmick and causes more problems than they cure, there is no right to have them or use them!

But can I just say that parking bays on private land are just pretty patterns on tarmac, there is no statute law behind them, they are just meaningless! And despite everything can be ignored as there is no law behind them.

My personal opinion is that all parking bays should be wide enough to open the doors on an average sized vehicle fully, look at a Mondeo then open the doors fully, then that should be the size of all bays

You don't have a child if you use those bays!

Go check out the US-origin psych construct of "Mom Time" that is the origin of all these marketing gimmicks - By using them you give responsibility for any child over to the store in order for them to validate your empty little life.

Not really anyone's idea of a very fit parent, eh?
