Moving one contract number to another existing one
Hi all,
After trawling the web, I am still no wiser.
Basically I have 2 contracts one with orange, one with tmobile.
My orange one is up soon (which my wife uses) and I was wondering if I arranged to pay the existing months off and got a PAC code whether I could port this number to my existing Tmobile contract (which is currently mine) for her to use, so she can keep her number and use the remaining time of my contract.
So I am able to take out another contract for myself as I am considering a new phone on a 4G contract with more data than I have now as I regularly go over.
I have found a decent deal for what I want.
My main issue here is that she doesn't want to change her number to a new one, where as I am not really bothered.
I can obviously just pay hers up and move her number to a new contract, but doesn't help with my data.
I would also prefer to be on another provider as we are currently installing Vodafone transmitters in our workplace as the company is going from Orange to Voda for their phones so I will prob lose my signal shortly anyway.
If anyone can advise please
Thanks...Dean

And what's the problem?
She wants to keep her number. You don't care about yours.
Port her number to your contract. Get a new contract for yourself.0 -
My other half ported her O2 PAYG number to a Three contract number under my name without any problems, I thought it might have been an issue as the O2 number was in her name.
Swapping numbers seems surprisingly easy, even when it's someone else's number!0 -

As i already stated
That is exactly what I want to do
Is it really that simple ?
It sounds as tho is should be as far as I can see too
Just wondered if there were any issues as my tmobile contract is 12 months in
And they are both owned by EE now
I'm sure I read you could only port to another network
Which technically they are
But being as they're jointly owned0 -
if they are both the same network, then you might have to transfer the number to payg first before porting over.
but otherwise, as long as you dont mind losing your current number, it shouldn't be a problem0 -
T-mobile and Orange aren't the same network.0
-
Get a PAC from Orange and give it to T-Mobile.
Orange and T-Mobile operate almost like 2 virtual networks on EE 2G/3GT-mobile and Orange aren't the same network. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I'll see if I get time today and give that a try..
