This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Good morning everyone :j.

I'm having a very busy morning so far. I couldn't sleep again so I came downstairs and started cooking. So far I've pulled pork in the slowcooker and ginger biscuits in the oven. The house smells luvverlee! DD13 is rushing around getting her ingredients together for food tech. She's making a turkey lasagne but she's very nervous as she hasn't made one before. Inspired by GBBO I'm making a tottenham cake too. I'm a week behind I know but I can rarely concentrate in the evenings so I have a lot of telly to catchup on. Hooray for Sky +!

I'm going to jump in the shower in a sec as i have a plumber coming this morning to sort out a leak in the toilet upstairs. We have an overhead cistern out of the ark but recently it has started dripping which is most unpleasant when your having a quiet moment on the loo.:o:rotfl: I put a towel down and I had to wring it out last night as it was totally saturated. I hope in a way it's not fixable so we can get a new loo but I doubt that will happen.

Right, the biscuits are done so I must go. Take care and as always, gentle hugs to all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x
  • Morning All

Not a bad day so far weather wise, the forecast is to stay dry so I have 3 loads of washing out, another 1 in the machine which will be ready before I go to work.

Just found out I am accompanying children to cross country this morning so will dress up warm as it's probably a lot of standing around. Last day before the long weekend.

Marie - what a lovely day, I could certainly do something like that!
    BB - Love the picture!

Salad for lunch and salmon and something for tea.

Have a good day, take care. XX
  • Good Morning.

I'm here early as DH has gone to collect some glass for a job he is doing, so I thought I'd sit here with my coffee and enjoy the quiet.

We picked loads of blackberrys last night and I have more apples from dad's tree, so I shall be making more jam this morning :)

Haven't decided what's for tea tonight yet, possibly something mince.

Hope you all have a good day :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Sunny, bright and dry here this morning. Really warm here too. Have a load of washing ready to go out, will do that in a mo.

DH up and gone to work but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was roast chicken, with pasta in a creamy mushroom sauce and corn on the cob. Not sure again about tonight, but will organise at some point today.

Work was reasonably busy yesterday but am now on days off. Did a couple of little jobs yesterday afternoon after work. Have the normal list of chores for today and tomorrow so will be cracking on.

Have a really big bag of apples from my mum and dad's neighbour - free of course - so will get cracking with getting them prepped - will make a crumble for dinner, DH moaned and groaned last night that I hadn't got anything for dessert so will get that done at some point tonight.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning all.
Didn't get on here yesterday, I was quite busy.
Met a friend for coffee. Then met a friend for lunch. I hardly ever go out & had 2 appointments in 1 day!

Dumpling, your food sounds delicious. Hope you don't feel too tired later. And at least your daughter is making something useful in food. My son made a fruit salad a few weeks ago & next week he's making a sandwich.

Bargain bird, my husband also has trouble seeing what is in front of him. Although he knows better than to wake me up early! ;)

Camelot, I've got loads of washing as well. I don't know where it all comes from. Today, darks are in, my bedding to do & a load if towels. Exciting stuff...!

Busiscoming, I'm not keen on jam, but I'd make a load of crumble filling. We don't have an apple tree, but it seems every other house around here does. I am waiting for someone to offer me some apples. I mean, I'm the new resident, it would be very friendly to give me some apples eh!

Moorhen, it's never quiet at schools is it. Hope you won't be too tired x

    Hello to anyone who follows

    Love, hugs & spoons

    Lisa x
  • Good morning everyone :)

First of my days off and I managed to have a sleep in for the first time in months, it was lovely.

I don't work for the NHS, I work for a private company now but who knows for much longer. Though I did work for the NHS for 21 years of my life and I certainly won't be going back there.

No idea what we are doing today or what's for dinner, it's going to be a day of surprises so am off to wake up DH now and get going.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them ... and many thanks for all the ones that have been sent for me.

Keep well and safe and have a super day.

  • Hi all
Not up quite as early as usual! I have a late start at work because I have a docs appointment at 10. Had a headache since Friday, and I'm pretty certain it's yet another sinus infection (I have severe rhinitis and get sinus infections quite a lot) I hope they don't refer me back to the ENT consultant.
Need to drop BF off for a meeting on my way to the docs too.
Got another busy day at work today. It never stops!!
No idea what's for tea tonight. We don't get paid until Monday so it's an eat what's in the freezer few days! Luckily we have plenty of chicken breasts in the freezer so BF will be happy!

Dumpling - I can almost imagine how yummy your house smells! Mmm!

Hope you all have a good day!

    Morning all,

It's raining here which is not nice as I washed a bedspread yesterday and now it's glaring at me from the washing machine. I think we'll have to take it to the launderette to dry as it won't fit into the tumble.

A solicitor friend came round last night and talked through the probate stuff with DH: a family member thinks everything should have been sorted yesterday and has got huffy. Poor thing is in for a shock as DH has been told he's done extremely well in the time and a professional firm would have taken as long if not longer.:)

Coffee with a friend this morning, then sewing. Fruity chicken curry tonight.

    Hugs all round x
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
