The only way you will get a newish Honda for your budget is if you go for ex fleet, Police or Ambulance service vehicles.

Their is an auction in Wales that sells off the old RRV's and they currently have loads of CR-V's with the 2.2 cdti lump and starship miles. All silver, some civilionised some not but 57 and 08 plates for £2-3k.

Buy a new interior on eBay and off you go.

Merthyr Motor Auctions is the company name.

You might also come across an ex plod Zafira or two at West Oxfordshire Motor Auctions (WOMA).

If it is red it is ex Diplomatic Protection Group and will have lighter usage.

I would avoid the FR-V personally as i have never seen three people ever sit in the front and i think you would be better off with a more traditional 7 seater or 6 seater.

Avoid the newshape, 06 onwards, Zafira is 1.9 diesel, just not worth the hastle.

Used them for years at work and they were troublesome. Petrols much more reliable.

    As an aside.

My mk3 Mondeo was faultless as has the wifes diesel Clio and my current Volvo.

Look after a car and it should be reliable but any car can fail and so do Hondas and Toyotas.

I put around 100k on my Mondeo, the wife has put 80k on her Clio and i have done 60k in the V50.

Clean oil and filters. Don't race from the lights. Take it easy till it has warmed up. All help.

And wash it a couple of times a year wether it needs it or not!
