The 110 is better than the 130 for sure, but I have personally known several owners of low-mileage 110s, and the problems they have had are enough to tell me that if that engine is as good as they (diesels) get, I have done the right thing over the years to stick to Jap petrols!0

They are only bad if you choose a bad one. Mines got 170,000 on the clock now.
Injectors are fine, It didhave a new clutch/DMF a little while before i bought it though. Not unexpected with over 100,000 miles on it at the time.
Too many garages blame the injectors and/or the pump when its something else.
One woman i spoke to said she had the same, I popped my code reader on it and it said the turbo was sticking.
She got the turbo stripped/checked and refitted for around £100 and had no problems after.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

That's not inconsistent with what I was saying though -- these engines are designed for high mileages. Pootling around town, doing 6-7000 miles a year ruins them.0 -
With such low mileage you can bet its done a lot of local miles ague - in which case a flywheel conking after 60k miles can often and reasonably be put down as wear and tear on an old used motor. Ie not faulty as per sales of goods act.
Injectors and fuel pump not so much though.0 -
For the people commenting "wear and tear" won't that be covered under the SOGA also? Goods sold must be fit for purpose and last a reasonable amount of time. I'm not sure 1 month is a reasonable amount of time for a Flywheel & clutch.All your base are belong to us.0

It's not lasted 1 month, it's lasted anything up to 8 years!!0 -

It's lasted 1 month since the item was sold to the user.
The Sales of Goods act comes into effect when a dealer / trader / shop ect sells an item.
So it has not lasted a reasonable amount of time.All your base are belong to us.0 -

However the O/P has subsequently got that work done by another mechanic.
He should have been able to get the trader to do it, but they declined.

I agree here.
Clutch / flywheel should have went back in the first instance rather than repair them self. I was only pointing out that it would have been covered under SOGA had the OP went that route at the time.

Nonsense. Based on that logic if I buy a 1999 mondeo with 250k miles on the clock and something goes wrong I can have it repaired for free - it simply doesn't make sense. There is a major difference between a fault and something wearing out. And SOGA does consider description and price - description bein used goods. SOGA does imply terms from formation of the contract but that doesn't mean the 'clock' is reset so to speak.0
