Can't see the party discounting her just because she comes from Fermanagh. Why would you think that's likely to happen - are the DUP anti-culchie?

It would be interesting to see what comments are made about her sex though. Would that still be tolerated in this day and age, even in Norn Irn?

Ian Paisley is as culchie as they come! :rotfl:

He is a man, though. And I'm not sure that the DUP (or NI) is ready for a female leader. But I think that Arlene would be good. She's the most intelligent of the lot of them, IMHO.

What: Shaftsbury, Methody and QUB and you think he's a culchie? :T I think you've got a bolt loose Tara. :p

As for Arlene; yes she's good and probably the best of the bunch. The problem is that she's DUP. No matter how forward looking she may be she's always going to be constrained by the party whip.

Personally I don't think we'll have cracked it until we have a black, lesbian, catholic, disabled first minister who likes flegs and marching. Then we'll have all the options covered. :D

    Naomi Long?

On the subject of Ms. Long, how has she been performing as an MP?

Trying very hard, but even if you try to compromise, there are always some idiots, that want to go backwards, like the bomb scares this morning. Don't want to go back to that?

Good job the guns are gone. The DUP would have no feet left.
  • On a more serious note though, how come Gerry isn't behind bars for withholding info on his Brother, he even let him canvas in his constituency and work with other children knowing fine well he was a Kiddy Fiddler. Unforgivable !! He's going down..... No-one in the Dail will take him seriously now, how will he ever be able to make comment on serious matters with this hanging over him... he'll have to go..
