I thought that the first minister should have give an apology and where did he get this information from, another member of the DUP's former solicitor's office..... something is very fishy. Wasn't Peter involved in his own scandal with Fraser Developments.

The alarming aspect for me is that the speaker of the house didn't see anything wrong with what was said and that Allister refuted the matter publicly which brings it to a close.

What it be bold of me to say that Allister is a decent advert for independents? I didn't think he would have been as effective as he is proving to be.

Hello and welcome and you're not. ;)

All and any local matters are allowed on to be discussed on the NI board however if a thread gets heated, abusive or libellous then it will get pulled. Happens occasionally.

That's kind of what I was wondering so what gives him the moral right to attack Allister?

The moral arguement he is using is that NI would be better off without Allister as his only goal is to bring NI back to the "bad old days". I remember Robinoson stating this once in justification for attacking what is essentially a one man show.

He's effective ok and entertaining with it but I have examined his mission statement and I don't find it appealing.

Yes, he wants majority rule to be the norm. That might be ok 20 years down the line but as things stand we absolutely need mandatory power sharing in my opinion. It may well be that we'll never be able to return to traditional politics. I couldn't vote for Jim Allister or anybody else from TUV as long as that is their objective. Plus I have this thing about division of the unionist party.

    Yes it is.

It's worse than Stormont some times on here.

Think the dup guns have been out for jim allister since the "red sky" NIHE contracts came out of the woodwork.Jim allister seems to be a thorn in their sides and they will take any opportunity to put the boot in,however it seems they got their facts wrong (again) and are trying to backpedal now.
Like many leaders peter robinson is having the words put into his mouth by others behind the scenes with their own agenda and perhaps the rumour a few weeks back about him retiring may yet hold some truth.

Jim Allister is certainly a thorn in their sides because he's declared himself a one man opposition and is acting in a manner more akin to the old administration rather than the new power sharing assembly. Entertaining to watch but how many of us want to return to the old ways?

I hadn't heard the rumour about Robinson retiring but after seeing his recent performances I think he might need to.

I think she'd be quite good. More switched on.

Being female may hinder her a little as will coming from Fermanagh, the only alternative is Nigel Dodds but I don't think he will stand.
