Just been reading through everyone's posts and was wondering
How much does everyone save for Christmas? Do you do this each month?
Does anyone use their credit card?
I see people with trolley full of food and there is no way we could ever afford that?
I would love to start doing some competitions (I usually never win but you never know) any advice on where to start, which sites are good?
Most people with their two trolley loads of food that they drag round the supermarket have probably put it on a credit card! we don't buy loads of extras, just enough for three/four days of luxury. i save £100 a month for my kids/family presents, then I use my weekly shopping money to buy the Christmas food for that week only instead of my normal weekly shop.0 -
Hello, I DO spend on Christmas starting in January getting cards half price. I frequent Church sales and car boot sales where I pick up nice things at good prices that I WANT only. Much daily food I go to our supermarket where from 3.30 ish they reduce food to a third... we eat well but cheaper. I couldn't do the full trolley either. This approach suits the hunter-gatherer in me and I LIKE doing it. Just do it with an open mind like the comps.0

I got a tiny tree last year in a charity shop for pennies. Have spent about £50 on my brother, will spend around the same on my mum.
Alcohol, I just bought a case of 6 wines from virgin wines for 40 quid plus delivery, I put money into virgin wines every month and every few months they match what you put in per month.
I wont drink it, I'll give a couple of bottles as a present for my mum, she likes wine and she'll be happy with that along with her other presents and keep a couple for later in the year to give to my mum on her birthday as well.
Ive bought some crisps and snacks to take to my mums, a bottle of bucks fizz for £3 for hogmanay and a bottle of absolut vodka for £16. I wont drink the vodka over a couple of days (or Id be ill), but I'll take it to my mums over christmas as I dont drink wine these days.
My mum and I dont do a roast dinner, we dont eat meat so she'll get me a couple of takeaways on christmas eve and christmas day and I go home on Boxing Day and back up to hers for Hogmanay.
I dont have a lot of spare cash but I get presents that I think my mum and bro will like and we dont do a lot of fuss at christmas, lost my gran 3 years ago just before Christmas so Im happy to spend it with my mum and I see my brother on Christmas Eve as he drops off our presents to my mums house.0
