CornishPasty ran a poll originally when she set up the new mag thread asking if people preferred it or not and the majority said they did, with many who originally said they didn't like it changing their mind after settling in to it and saying if they had the chance to vote again they would vote to say it was better.

Even with that, apparently the majority now don't like it and we have already asked for stickys and been told no, there is no point in putting it in the chat corner as the majority don't read that either so if you would like to start pm'g every single user of the mse forum to get a response then please go ahead as I can't see any other way to get peoples awareness :)

Nope no taker here for this :p

I'm just trying to find a answer that will help more people. I know that you was told no to making the actual daily mag thread a sticky at the top of the main comp board, has anyone asked if a sticky directing people to the daily mag thread is allowed?

And of course nothing will be done until CP is back

i'm not sure but don't think anyone's asked the actual forum team/ in site feedback or asked MSE admin,
if there could be a sticky for them
I've skimmed through site feedback & can't find anything :o

I can't see where the majority don't like it mumto :o
reading through the old threads the majority all seem to be in favour of it & just a few for against it,
    unless peeps aren't saying :o

I think in my humbles allisoca explains it better in her post, that we all have to find our own way with the comps

    Very true Fire**fly & allisoca.

I think a sticky at the top of the main comp board with a clear title stating that there is a link to the daily's mag thread inside the sticky is the answer.

The people who want the daily mags back on the main page will have that, & the daily mag thread kept the same as it is now will also be good for the people who want the layout & running of the daily mag thread the same as it is now.

So Who do we PM for this? Is it a BG or Andrea?

And I am guessing that it's going to be me doing the asking again then :rotfl:

Without reading back through this thread now as I am about to log off and deal with real life , comping cat/toniq/nicky I think all commented or hinted at how the majority of folk are missing out on the comps because they don't know they exist and that the forum isn't run for the majority anymore, something along those lines but i'm off for the day now so please excuse me misquoting/misremembering :)

up to you LO, but personally I would leave it until Cornish comes back as it doesn't seem fair to be discussing it while she's not here :(
she did a lot of hard work getting it done in the first place with
others & it somehow wouldn't be right to be asking to change anything without her being here,
    I wouldn't like anyone to change the puzzler.com thread/
my sticky etc if I wasn't around to be in the discussions iyswim :(

    1. I agree with the above from fire**fly
    2. I don't think a 'sticky' will necessarily resolve the problem as it suggests (following logic) that all the other type of comps should also have stickys (e.g. Mag Daily, Puzzler/TAB, Weeklies, Once entry etc). How many stickys do we need? How many people regularly check the 'Phone,Text, Postal' sticky? Just because it is visible doesn't mean it will be used more.
    3. We are all adults and surely don't need our hands holding to lead us to every single comp? Part of the fun is discovering new things isn't it?
    4. If we miss a comp from time to time, well that's life, no point stressing about it...if you find a thread of comps you wish to follow (like the mag dailies, Puzzler etc that come up on the main board feed) then just do them. If you don't, then don't.
    5. The 'click to wins' only started very recently so it stands to reason it will take a while for people to catch on (I think mum2 might have said it - it isn't possible to PM every MSE'er to alert them to new types of comps - also ref my points 3 & 4 above)
    6. Re. Luckyone's last comment - ref my point 2. I'd happily go with the majority either way. If a sticky is what people think is best, then maybe one that includes a quick link to ALL the 'other' comps types might be best so that no-one can complain they have missed out on something because they couldn't find it.
    7. Now to Carry on Comping! lol ;)

  • Biker chick, I totally agree with you in that I don't see how people can find the puzzler thread etc but can't find this one, I also agree about handholding not being needed for adults.

I also agree with comping cats point about it being difficult for new people to find and navigate, but then the same has to be said for the puzzler and postal type threads surely but they seem to be accepted on here?

I would just prefer Cornish to be in on this discussion as it is their thread and hard work that is being questioned once more.

Absolutely Mums - I agree Cornish should have a chance to reply before any decisions are discussed/taken regarding the mag dailies aspect.

As for your reference to comping cats point - I agree the MSE site is tricky to navigate at first. But, as with anything in life, practice makes perfect. It was a scary place initially for me too, but there is more than enough guidance threads on here kindly written by many committed and helpful MSE'ers, that if people take the time to read they will find everything and more to facilitate their comping. Nothing in life is ever handed to us on a plate, we each have to exert a degree of effort in order to gain/earn our rewards! Bottom line, it takes time; there are no magical short cuts to learn how to navigate this site you just have to get on and do it for yourself and knowledge/experience will follow :)
