I started comping on here in May - I've found people to be very friendly if approached in a pleasant manner. It is a large space to try and include everything and please everyone. It just reflects the real world doesn't it?
Personally, as a newbie, I got to grips with the main board first. I then got to know the Puzzler/TAB thread, the Dailies and more recently the Postals. Things need to be ordered in some way, and it has worked for me investigating things myself, and sending the odd PM to an experienced member when necessary (like Laks, cornishpasty1 etc) and I've always had a positive response :T
Regarding the Dailies, it's a personal choice whether to do them or not. Even if you don't, regular updates always 'bump' the thread on the main comps board (at least once a day) so it shouldn't be a problem to have a quick look when perusing the latest comps and see if anything new has appeared on there which could be of interest.
It's a laborious job adding all these extra little short-term comps like the click to win ones, so I have nothing but admiration for those peeps who take the time to do so (cornishpasty1, mumto2boys, jambodaveprince, fire**fly etc) :T :A=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -
I consider myself a friendly, helpful, long term comper since 2007. I endorse the comment from Nicky63. I fail to see why when there are so many competitions included that they are in one thread that is not visited by so many. I cannot believe how many competitions I am missing. Yes I have heard all the arguments but we should have a noticeable option and have a personal choice which comps we want to enter one by one, unless it is Take a break etc. These are lumped together and there are so many that I did not know how many competitions I was missing, this should surely be taken back to the members to decide how they would like them displayed on the board.
I would also like to add that I never use CCC, yes I can if I wish, I know that, but the fact is any one who doesn't is not privvy to decisions, I apologise is I am reading this wrongly if this is not the case. I really do think decisions should not be made in a small corner.0 -

I agree it would be a good idea to re ask people what they want. The trouble is where do you ask?. In Fire**fly's post there was several conversations in the compers chat corner, but people are saying they don't go in there. Which is fair enough.
But that leaves us with the question where would you ask the questions as posting a talking thread on the main comp board is not allowed only comps because it disrupts the board.
I'm racking my brains but can't think of anything except making a sticky at the top of the main comp board with the title clearly asking people to vote on weather they want to change how the click to win comps & daily mags are posted.
Of course you need to take into account that there are only two - three people at the moment who stay up till midnight to post on the forum with the correct answers every time new competitions are added.
If the system is changed you would also need to ask the questions who is willing to do this. This Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -
Personally my take on this is that most of the answers in this type of comp I could find myself without too much effort, if I don't know them already, just having the comp available in sight is better than missing it completely0

Yes most questions are quiet easy, but posting them at midnight every time there is a new one isn't so easy, well not for me well past my bed time
If the system changed perhaps there would not be a need for the same people to post the new comps as they & the Bg's are the only people who can alter a post made by them.
On another competition site they just have the mags listed by name. You click on the name of the mag & enter all the ones you want to.
I actually tried it the other week & it took me double the time because it was a harder way to open multiple windows so the comp video's play while you start entering the next one.
If I was to do that again I would make my own list of links to the comps I want to enter with the answers so replicating what's all ready being done here.
We just need to find a way to ask everyone, can only think of a sticky so farThis Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -
That actually sounds a good solution, peeps making list or favouriting comps they want to enter and if needs be finding their own answers. The important factor is knowing about those competitions so that you can enter0

If people are wanting the mag thread to change again, could I respectfully request please that this is discussed further when CornishPasty is back online, seeing as it is run by them for the most part?StayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0

Yes of course mum2boy's
I personally don't want it to change because this is easier for me. But I am willing to forgo easier for me if it means more people can enter because they know where the daily mags are.
It could just be a case of a sticky at the top of the main comp page with a link to the daily mag stating that the daily mags can be found here which I think would be much more visable than the daily's mag thread now.
Or it could mean they change. No one will know unless we find a way of asking people what they want. The chat corner is where it should be done & has been done, but some people are not happy with that.
I know we can not please everyone.
But we can put this debate to bed one way or the other if we have a sticky at the top of the main comp board asking people to vote do they know where the daily mag thread is? Yes or No
Then at the bottom could be a link to the daily's thread so for people who don't know where the daily's thread is they will then know.
Also ask if people would like the sticky at the top of the main comp board to stay so they can quickly access it
This debate will continue to go on unless something is done. So lets see what the public want.
So who is in favour of asking if a sticky poll can be put at the top of the main board to ask people if they know where the daily comp thread is, & if they would like the sticky to stay to direct them easily to the daily's thread or if people would rather it to be done in a different way? This Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -
CornishPasty ran a poll originally when she set up the new mag thread asking if people preferred it or not and the majority said they did, with many who originally said they didn't like it changing their mind after settling in to it and saying if they had the chance to vote again they would vote to say it was better.
Even with that, apparently the majority now don't like it and we have already asked for stickys and been told no, there is no point in putting it in the chat corner as the majority don't read that either so if you would like to start pm'g every single user of the mse forum to get a response then please go ahead as I can't see any other way to get peoples awarenessStayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0 -

I agree mumto,
& without wanting to upset anyone just to say in my humble opinion I wouldn't like the mag thread to change back to how it was
we had to post the new comp on the main board, then, post it to glad's daily thread, then glad had to post it on her updated threads etc,
the way they are done now is simple, new comp, just add onto the mag thread,
that way they are still posted on the main board as the new comp 'bumps' the daily mag thread to the top just like the
'take a break monthly & puzzler.com' threads are done,
to access the mag daily clickwins click on Cornish's first page & scroll down to them,
Magazine Dailies (ongoing and updated regularly) PT2
subscribe to the thread & in your user CP you can access the thread daily/whenever,
just my humbles xplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0
