has anyone made a chocolate selection box?

Has anyone any ideas on how I could make 12 chocolate selection boxes?
I looked in to bulk buying already made ones but you don't get much in 1 box to justify the price and know you can make them cheaper. In my local shop they are selling packets of 4 x finger of fudge, twirls, curly wurly, freddo, mars and more for £1 a packet.
The problem is I don't know how to make them up to look nice instead of just putting them in loose in a gift bag.

Any ideas please?

  • Last year I got some small cheap baskets from eBay and put my kids favourite sweets in and then wrapped in cellophane finished with a bow, these went down really well as I'd found with selection boxes aside from being pricey there also was a few bars that got left as no one liked them
  • Make candy cane sleighs. - I did this last year for my staff and they were thrilled.

I bought the makings in Asda using multi packs - each sleigh had 2 candy canes, 1 kitkat, 3 Kinder bars, 3 Freddo bars, 2 Asda 10p chocolates and a Lindt mini teddy. Bit of ribbon and some double sided sellotape -Cost £1.69 each to make.

Lots of posts on here about them and if you google it there are quite detailed instructions in a blog called Ellen's place.

I used baskets - they were £1 each, so not exactly cheap. I lined them with tissue paper and covered them with cellophane wrap.

The chocolates, I got when on offer eg 4 for £1.

I think they cost under £2 each.

Thank you all for your ideas. I have just bought these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pack-of-12-Ribbon-Christmas-Box-Gift-Bags-Boxes-Teddy-Santa-Reindeer-Snowman-/261114214375?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Celebrations_GiftWrapping_ET&var=&hash=item3ccb9eb7e7
they have come through and perfect for standing chocolate bars up in and/or other items. I am ready now for making my OWN selection boxes.
  • I'll be making chocolate bouquets or hampers for my girls this year, my youngest who'll be just three has a severe peanut/tree nut allergy and it's a struggle to find anything that's safe for her unless you spend a fortune. I'd rather make her one using a selection of her favourite safe chocolates and sweets as it'll not only be cheaper but we won't be left with a cupboard full of chocolate they dislike. I might even throw in some homemade goodies too, she loves my gooey chocolate cookies :)
