  • It's a shame their customer service wasn't helpful. When I was with them I couldn't believe how good their call centre was. I don't say that very often!
  • My £21 credit had been zeroed as well as the last 266Mb of Data remaining on my my month allowance, in just 10 mins before bundle of 500Mb was renewed .....
I contacted them asking them if there was an issue and they said: you used that data ( while i was at work and not apps running), it's yours SIM, so I said how come in a month i only used about 240Mb and in 10 mins ( just before renewal ) all of it plus the £ 21 pound was gone ?
I requested escalation but no reply yet......

No I did not go over the free limit.
I lost the £10 in two stages.
So when you look at your statement what does it show the £10 was spent on?

took a while look though one day after another to answer this one!
16 Aug Data 61 MB Total charge £9.58
For all other days: "No Data Exchanged" or "Covered by allowance"
Could not find anything about the 42p left over.

    BTW.
I have been abroad since 3 Dec and has not been using the SIM and won't be till April.
Is there a minimum usage clause?!
I would guess the data charge is for going over the allowance that day ...61MB probably a phone system update being the most common cause if you don't remember using the data.

It's a good idea to have a data counter on your phone so that if situations like this crop up you can see if and what used the data.

The minimum use is the same as most of them 180 days so being back in April wouldn't be a problem

I have zero credit now. I wonder if I will be asked to pay after the first year is up!
As there is no annual fee I don't see a problem with zero credit other than you don't have a anything to fall back on should you need it

Last month I too started getting charged for data.I rang their Customer Services and was told that my mobile was set to use the MMS APN which uses data that isn't included in the free allowance. Not quite sure how this got changed but never the less changed the APN setting and all ok since.:)

Due to ads interfering with GPS, etc, I rarely use Ovivo SIM for data.
How does that happen? I've never had adverts interfere with Google Navigation, TomTom etc, they only appear in web pages, not other apps.

As Mike points out it's not possible for ad's to interfere with GPS or apps like Facebook as the ad's only come through a browser page.

Anyways, looking forward, solution to the overcharging problem is not to have any credit with Ovivo, let alone buy credit.
They are not "overcharging" if you are paying for something you have used.
If you worry about going over your free allowance then use apps like NavFree which uses no data for your GPS.
I you install a data counter which warns you when you are getting close to your data limit and only turn data on when you need it there shouldn't be any problems
