Like Molly I left NHS 2 years ago after 23 years of hell:(
    p

Me too, I could only stand 9 years, ok when I started but degenerated.

Got fed up of all the cuts being aimed at admin, although I wasn't personally affected at the time, just felt undervalued, so off I went.

Last day of free swimming today thanks to a cousins free 3 times pass at ba....tynes. Lovely, but couldn't afford the monthly cost.

Eating from freezer and fridge to,use up odd bits to start afresh 1 October.

Hugs to all that need them.

Started off really foggy again today, but it has brightened up now so I have the bedding in the machine.
The big scooter is charging today so no going out, anyway we are doing the food storage made easy challenges this week (see SHTF thread) so basically having a bug out day, good fun, but it brings to mind how we would manage if a "Blackout" scenario ever did hit us.

Apart from that I will do some more crafting for Christmas DD wants me to crochet some mini geek hats for ferrero rocher's for her geeky friends so I must get some ideas in my head and see what I can come up with.

Hilly good to see you back x

Hi all. Back to using a Word.doc for my replies.:o

NAR belated birthday wishes  – sorry, it escaped my poor beleaguered brain that it was your bathday.:o

TTFTM (((HUGS))) You know what? If that was me, I'd start proactively looking for another job right away – you never know, you might find something really good, and be able to tell those skunks to poke their job where the sun don't shine.;)

Julie I sympathise about literally lifting your leg into the car – I often have to do that. In fact I get Mr LW to lift them in for me!:o Hope the Dr appointment went well.:o

Hilstep hi mate; being awol for a fortnight, I've missed your news, but hope all is well. Had to smile at your vacuum pump tucked up your knickers.:o

RosyRed I concur re puppy classes – if they learn nice manners right from the start, they're so much more fun, because you can allow them more general freedom, iyswim.:o

Re Windows operating systems – we have 3 x Windows 7 and one ancient and venerable pc still running on XP. We carefully avoided the pile of poo that is Vista, and from the comments here, I suspect we shall be carefully avoiding Windows 8 also.;)

The doglets are running me ragged, but it's so lovely having them here, iyswim.:o They're flaked out on the carpet right now, as I've run off all their spare energy throwing tennis balls for them.:D

I've also found a fairly good way of dealing with nuisance calls on my mobile. I already had three ringtones set up – one for Mr LW, a second for the dog-sitting franchise, and a third for “everyone else”. Well, I created another group, called Red Button, which I place known nuisance call numbers into, and assigned it the least obtrusive tone I could find (it's actually an sms tone) which is easily ignored.;)

WM has just squeaked, so I shall attempt to put the washing outside, then see if I can look the WiiFit in the face.:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Hi everyone

Just thought I would show my head a little earlier today.

For those Windows 8 folk about to throw their lappies through the window, suggest you look here

TTFTM - I agree with LW, get your CV on LinkedIn, and get looking for something before everyone else.

I too have a special ring tone for those calls which are a PITA, I selected a quacking duck :D

I won't go on about the blue sky and the temps., just to say my clothing attire is minimal, and those who don't like to see me this way - TUF. Skye is hiding inside, crashed out.

To those new Mum's who think their offspring have gone to Uni to study hard, sorry you soon realise Uni could be 18 months, 2 years max., but it is classed as "development time", while I call it a waste of. They will study and work hard, but not full-time. I am sure they will thoroughly enjoy it, and come out with marvellous results.

((Hugs)), Spoons, Positive Vibes all round. Take care everyone. DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Lol DG, when I was at UNi some friends had 12 hours a week lectures !
I did nursing so we worked full time shift work inc nights and then had the academic and research stuff to do on top!
It depends largely on your subject I think

Very much NPM, but I know my DS had a brilliant time, came out with a drinkers degree, but has worked hard and succeeded brilliantly since, so it did what it was meant to do.

BTW you need a [ between your 10 and COLOR on your status line.

Trying to be a bit more productive today! Did make the marmalade last evening with the seville oranges I froze in January! Have enough now to last until new season's oranges arrive in the New Year.
have been stewing plums today - will probably freeze those too.
Also with my Music Association hat on have been negotiating to borrow various percussion instruments for concert next month and negotiating with local paper to distribute fliers to all the surrounding villages! need to get the drinks licence application in tomorrow....
Have done two short walks with the hound as well - am so longing to be able to do proper walks again - and to drive!
Hilstep, i've missed what you've had done - but I too smiled at the pump bit!
Washing appears to have dried on the line today so had best get that in shortly,,
Hope you've all had good days!
