OS Daily Wednesday 25th September 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Last day in work this week, then I get a lovely long 4 day weekend. I can't wait!

No real plans but the way I feel it's likely to be R&R rather than the stuff I should really be doing, i.e. decluttering and sorting out this house.

Chicken thighs with chorizo in the slow cooker for tonight.

No weight lost this week but none put on either, another bit of my life on hold until work is sorted out. I am past caring if I lose my job or not, I just wish this awful, demoralising, humiliating process was over and that innocent staff were not punished for the terrible mistakes of managers who will keep their jobs

Thanks everyone for all the support and sorry for the rants and the whingeing. :o

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Hugs to you Time To Face The Music x I had to go through a very humiliating process when retired from the NHS and know what it did to me. In the end we had to play them at their own game - literally and not take it personally - it became easier to bare x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Morning All

Just lost a post - that's what happens when you press the wrong button!

TTFTM - What a horrible position you are in, hugs to you.

Got up early to make scones for the coffee morning today but they are too flat looking so wont bother to take them in, I have other goodies I have made so it will be fine - others are donating too.

Still dark here, wish it would stop with the fine rain showers, washing hasn't been out for ages.

Have a good day, take care. XX

TTFTM hope it's not too bad, big hugs
    Morning molly

Well, I'm never up and about at this time! Doctors appointment at 7.30 so I'm off shortly.
It's just coming light here. I will literally have to lift my leg into the car this morning. It's always very stiff until I get going.
Hoping for a productive day so shall pop back later to report what I've been doing.
    Bye for now x

  • Morning all.
TTFTM - your situation sounds absolutely awful, I hope there is some resolution soon, if only to know what is happening.

Dark, misty, damp morning here in Newcastle. I've been up and made our packed lunches already, and now I'm back in bed with a minty hot chocolate as a treat instead of my usual coffee!
Off to work again today. BF has his band round tonight, so I am looking forward to a night on the sofa catching up with last nights TV (I recorded the Sarah Millican show last night, so that's my night sorted!
No idea what's for tea, BF will sort his own out and I'll probably just have something from the freezer.

Hope you all have a good day!
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j
  • Morning peeps :)

Another foggy day (just how I like it).
It's bathroom cleaning today (lucky me) I've got yet more forms to complete and return, this time for the dentist. However it is an NHS dentist so I guess I shouldn't complain since they're rarer than hens teeth these days.
Not sure about tea, fancy a chicken casserole. Knowing my luck it will turn out to be another hot day again like yesterday.
DD doesn't seem to really like sandwiches. She asked for tortillas so I must make some of those today and freeze.

Hugs and spoons all round xxx

TTFTM hugs for you, awful unsettling time :( xxxx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Foggy but dry here this morning. Really warm here too.

DH up and gone to work but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was LO lamb cooked in a pot of gravy - didn't put the sliced potato on the top in the end as it would have taken too long to cook, so just did mash instead, with carrots, green beans, broccolli and mushrooms, used up the LO yorkshire puddings too. Tonight we will be having roast chicken but not sure what I will cooking with it as gettting bored of roast type meals may do either pasta or rice, or jacket potatoes. Will organise later.

Work wasn't horrendous yesterday, so will see what today brings.

Working today just until lunchtime so will come home and crack on with the normal chores, have several bits and pieces I want to get done, did an on-line grocery order for delivery on Friday, as I should be picking up my new specs and I have a money off voucher to use so hopefully will make the day a bit easier.

Watched the Great British Bake Off last night - really enjoyed it so will be watching from now on - always been doing stuff on the pc as menfolk watching stuff on tv. So voted with my feet last night and watched on the other tv1

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good Morning everyone and what a misty morning it is today but not cold at all which is good
DD has the day off today so we are going to tackle the one of the boys bedrooms !!! god knows what we will find She has four lads and the eldest and youngest have their own bedroom but the middle two share and its a bit of a pit as its on the very top floor of her house so they have the place to themselves.Every now and again their Mum and I get stuck in with black bags and de-clutter their room.I thought girls were bad enough but the amount of junk they seem to accumulate is amazing.Who knows what we will find up there :):)
Her car is hopefully going to be sorted out today so she will be back on the road again by tomorrow .
This weekend I have a good bit of cooking to do for eldest Dds buffet on saturday night. Her DD has got her a lovely cake for her with her and her OHs wedding photo on it.Its 25 years since they got married and I can hardly believe how the time has flown by.Looking forward to seeing all the family gathered together.
Well I feel the kettle calling for a cuppa
Hope you all have a good day
    Cheers chums
