tixy sorry to disagree, but whoever u are working for I totally think u are very biased. I keep repeating myself that if a credit card is cancelled due to my incorrect input of pin number, I still think that the card was INVALID. I stress that I did inform SWIFT cover that I was not renewing the policy, hence the mis incorrect deduction of payment. Asda are definitely at fault (i.e. they are part of Santander) so unless you can advise me of an appropriate procedure, I suggest I seek advise elsewhere.
Hmmmmmm.
Okay I admit it, I work for Swift, Asda, Santander and whichever debt collector currently owns your Asda cc debt. I am therefore totally biased.
You are, I expect, correct in everything you have said and everything you think. Your actions so far based on what you think are obviously work out well for you. If I were you I would carry on doing practically nothing to try resolve the situation for another 2 years and probably you will find everything gets sorted.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
So I can get out of any credit card debts by entering my pin wrong 3 times?0

You have most likely 'Locked' your card, which means that your card can not be used for transactions requiring a PIN number. Some banks, lock the card completely and some will only lock it -as in the case of Santander, for purchases requiring a PIN number.
This means that transactions, where a customer is not present (e.g: On-line purchases), can still be processed. This means that, I'm afraid, your Swift Cover payment can still be processed and charged to your visa account.
A card lock, does not close your account. If this was the case, I'm sure we will have quite a few people on the forum complaining about it.
What I would recommend you do:
1.) Make a complaint to Swift Cover, asking them to return all your money and also with Statutory Interest at 8%.
2.) Write an (almost apologetic) letter to Santander, saying what's gone wrong and asking them to settle your card account, and also removing your default or to your credit management company, if so.
Otherwise, it's unlikely that your get any credit on 'Good' terms for 6 years from the date of the default.
The reason why your Partner may be affected (and gets declined), is because your financially connected, for example: A joint mortgage or bank account
I hope you don't mind my comments and just so you know, I'm not biased to Santander, nor am I employed by them.Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -

Agreed. That's real commitment to the cause. I've thanked all of Tixy's posts despite my usual stance on thanking since the person they helped didn't want to.0 -
...if I've understood this correctly, the OP has effectively paid twice for the same insurance (one currently defaulted and owed to Asda and then another policy with a new insurer) - right?0
