Corsodyl Mouthwash: most revolting TV commercial ever

Now I don't usually complain about adverts but what were they thinking? It's the advert where the woman bleeds from various face holes before spitting blood and revealing a gap-toothed smile.
The catchy catchphrase is 'for those who spit blood when you brush your teeth'.
As it happens I once bought a bottle of this since it was cheap. Now most mouthwash is just mint flavoured water. This stuff was like swishing lighter fluid round your mouth for a minute. Seems the actual product is as revolting as the advertising campaign.

Actually, I tried Listerine mouth wash once - it tasted like Germolene antiseptic cream / ointment.
And I agree with you about the advert, it's more disturbing than it needs to be. The previous version showed a woman getting ready for a nigh out but at the end she took out a dental bridge to show the gap in her teeth.0 -
Not seen the advert, sounds nasty! Hate it when ads use grim images like that to sell something (like those lovely 'don't drink and drive' adverts that catch you out the first time and make your hair stand on end)
The mouthwash gets better with use and helped sort out my gum problems a lot, but yeah, it does feel like swishing burning lighter fluid at first and the taste..... ugh!....
Works though0 -

What is an advert ? Am I missing out on something ?0 -
Plus - no one should really self-prescribe Corsodyl.
It's useful in it's place, but if everone just started using it for a bit of bleeding - then the whole population would soon have very brown stained teeth, as chlorhexidine (The active ingredient) is notorious for causing staining.
The staining does polish off, but it needs a hygienist/dentist to do it.
If you have any concerns on gum bleeding talk to your dentist about it on the next visit, or make an appointment if you're one of the 45% who don't go to the dentist regularly. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

Shocking stat.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I agree the advert is horrible -always shocks me and makes me feel a little bit faint as I'm terrible with blood! Corsodyl is pretty potent stuff to self-prescribe too: I was prescribed it when I had a mild auto-immune disorder which caused mouth ulcers along with other mucous membrane issues. The mouthwash seemed to strip a fine layer of skin from the inside of my mouth each time I used it as I would get these fine fronds of stuff come away .0

HATE this advert. I am so grateful that we have sky when it comes on, pause it straight away then 30x speed through!!!0

As any devoted fan of QI will testify, using mouthwash is a complete waste of time and money and 'Halitosis' is a non-existent condition made up by the manufacturers of Listerine.
