i tootled to m&s and got loads of meals to last us until the end of the month (we only eat main meals twice a week on hubbys day off, sandwiches other days due to his shift patterns) using the £70 gift voucher hubby won at work, im really pleased with my haul!
had a really busy day at work today, so should have some cash to go into the winter wages pot again this week..

all looking positive on the savings front this month, at last, after 3 months of large vets bills taking up lots of money that should have been directed at savings pots!

but at least my lovely chunk of a horse is feeling better and healing, even if it is a slow process..

a damp rainy  day today, but thankfully the weekend is looking better!
nothing exciting to report, other than while leading chunky cob to his field half asleep at 6 this morning, i managed to trip over a fallen branch and land flat in the contents of an emptied wheelbarrow of his poo and mucky bedding! just what you need on a morning! - not  :s

a steady week.. the weather isnt amazing for summer, but i guess we just have to make the best of what we get!

we have some new chickens, another 6, thats it now our little flock is complete, just need to get some egg sales for the excess.  we are going to have plenty of lovely free range eggs to eat so i need to get a meal plan including eggs..

we currently have a solid fuel heating system, and next week im using the fitth of our  five week month wages plus a little from the energy saving pot  to buy the winter fuel , 6 months worth, this years cost £1560!!!!

three tonnes of fuel paid for and stashed for winter, alongside a pile of logs we have stored already.. feels good to know that expense is sorted for this winter..

A £125 p.bond win this month, we are doing well lately with them, lets hope it stays this way!

Hubby will be receiving back pay at the end of this month for a pay rise which has taken since april to get sorted, so thats a little extra for the long term savings pot .

My cafe will be coming up to the quiet time/low wages again shortly, so im trying to be extra frugal with meal planning and unplanned spends. I put a little away each week through the summer for winter wages, but with the large vets bills run up for my horse this year, i havent been able to put away  quite as much as id have liked.. hey-ho at least the vets bills are paid, and i have started a vet bill savings pot again, as he has scans due in the next month or so..

On mortgage news, the balance today is £143,550, overpaid £655.27 in August, monthly interest was £353.59, daily £11.40

today mortgage balance stands at £142,750

The weather is horrible, strong winds and heavy rain, so my little rural cafe  is closed yesterday and today..

Hubby has a few holiday days, this morning we are off to get two new tyres on the car, and do a little food shop and stock up on animal food.

The weather for the rest of the isnt too bad, so hopefully i wont have to close again this week..
