    Good point.
If comrade Milimarx scheme goes to plan the energy companies will quit the UK and Labour will have the ideal excuse renationalise energy supply.
Any commitment to freeze council tax, no
Any commitment to freeze petrol or fuel oil prices, no
That gum you like is coming back in style.

It would make my decade if the Big 6 quit the UK and the energy industry was re-nationalised. Even by Thatcher's woeful standards this was one of the biggest political mistakes of the last 50 years. SO much duplication, SO many shareholders to keep happy, SO many Arthur Daly types running the industry. If it isn't so lucrative how come so many of our energy companies are in foreign hands?

This was cooked up to grab Miliband the populist headlines on his 'big day'. In that respect it succeeded.
Any such plans will doubtless be greatly watered down at manifesto stage, and then again should he actually win office. The spin doctors are alive and well.
Strange how he didn't introduce any radical initiatives back in 2008 when he was Energy Secretary and actually had the power to do so?

I doubt tory scum will be in 2015 election.. so is there any point is fixing now.. I checked it and for me it will make me pay £340 extra per year.. maybe worth fixing for 12 months now?
How on earth do you think the donkey from Shrek will get privately owned companies who buy in gas from the eastern block at very volatile prices to guarantee fixed energy prices over 20 months?
It cannot be done. Not legally anyway.

If they'd done something about long term energy security before they'd spunked all the money on shiny shiny...

Very little of our gas comes from the Eastern bloc. The bulk of our imports are from Norway and (LPG) from Qatar.
Both currently fairly stable sources of supply (especially Norway).
