Driver reversed into me from driveway

I see it as the OP being on one side of the road heading in one direction.

The other person has reversed out of their drive, across a carriageway and bumped the OP's car. They have then made off in the opposite direction because they've had the room to do so.

Given the OP mentions lights are in close proximity, perhaps the third party was rushing to beat the green light which would stop them getting out of their drive and either accelerated too hard or misjudged the space and bumped the OP.

Another reason to reverse into your drive!
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?
  • If you paid the excess, you would get that back through the insurers so long as you had a receipt.
  • If you paid the excess, you would get that back through the insurers so long as you had a receipt.
Only if the claim gets settled in the OPs favour.

If it is as clear cut as the OP states I can't understand why the insurance are arguing it.

OP do you live close to where it happened?

I'm staggered that you've been driving a damaged car for 10 months, surprised it hasn't started to rust yet. Not to mention any safety implications.

Safety implications from a low speed dented panel.

You'd be utterly horrified by some of the bangers I've driven over the years if a dented car is so scary to you. Not to mention some of the repair methods used.

Didn't know it was only a small dent at the time as OP stated.
I took photos of the damage ( got photo of his car the next day ) and sent them to my insurance company it clearly shows my car has a big dent in the side

I was wondering if it affected use of the doors on the same side or possible structural issues, if the paints broken whether rust has set in.

TBH I'm starting to question what actually happened and wondering if the OP lives close and had also just reversed off the drive as things just don't add up.

Even a big dent is unlikely to be a problem. Door skins and panels aren't usually structural.

Trying to find a photo of my old £125 Volvo 940, but the only one I have that shows the dents makes it look in far better condition than it actually was. Eventually that dent was "repaired" using a bottle jack and a seatbelt.

I've just had an accident where a truck reversed into me, shunting the car back 4ft, unless you have CCTV or clear witness statements the insurance told me it will probably go 50/50 as the 3rd parties insurance will probably say i drove into him. Lucky for me i had both so hopefully they will pay out. The op's accident is different i know, but a 3rd party witness is essential as most insurance companies wont want to lose a case in court, even if the other party is clearly at fault they told me.

Good Luck hope it gets sorted

If he'd hit me and just drove off I'd have called police for failing to stop....although in fairness when an uninsured driver hit me and drove off they couldn't give a flying fox, but would still have done it...especially as they would know where he lived. If he said he was busy and couldn't deal with it now, again tough!
