Tesco's and the (non-)HD-Ready TV

I bought a Beko 17WLB450S from Tesco's a while back. One of the clinchers for buying it was the big sign on the display for this model saying "HD-Ready".

http://www.beko.co.uk/default.asp?docId=12760&productGroupId=12729&ff=1

At the weekend I bought a HD DVD player (a Sony) went to connect it the Beko and I couldn't...there's no HDMI slot - there's not even the analogue HD connectors.

Went to Beko and...guess what...the television isn't HD-Ready at all!!!! I am so angry - Tesco's are lying grabbing ***** IMHO!!!!

I've done some digging around and found this:
In order to be awarded the label "HD ready" a display device has to cover the following requirements:

Display, display engine

The minimum native resolution of the display (e.g. LCD, PDP) or display engine (e.g. DLP) is 720 physical lines in wide aspect ratio.

Video Interfaces

The display device accepts HD input via:

Analog YPbPr.

“HD ready” displays support analog YPbPr as a HD input format to allow full compatibility with today's HD video sources in the market. Support of the YPbPr signal should be through common industry standard connectors directly on the HD ready display or through an adaptor easily accessible to the consumer; and:

DVI or HDMI

HD capable inputs accept the following HD video formats:

1280x720 @ 50 and 60Hz progressive scan (“720p”), and
1920x1080 @ 50 and 60Hz interlaced (“1080i”)

The DVI or HDMI input supports copy protection (HDCP)

None of these ports are present...

It's been about 8 month's since I bought the telly - can I go back to Tesco's and demand another model?

There's no indication that the 17WLB450S was an HD-Ready TV.

I bet it doesn't say so on the TV; was it Tesco's sign that said that? You can obviously take it back if you have evidence they advertised it as HD-Ready. Without evidence, be prepared for an argument.

Agreed, and if possible take photographs with a camera phone!

    Tesco's are lying grabbing

Not really because if you go in and explain then they will give you your money back im sure.

Mistakes do happen and id guess that you have even made one or two in your life. When you realise you appologise, just what Tescos will do.

Dont worry about it too much- But as someone said all HDTV's have a sticker on the TV informing you of this,

Given that the model number is 17WLB450S, this would indicate it's only a 17 inch television - far too small to be equipped with HD. Even if it was, the screen is far too small for a viewer to see the picture improvment that HD is designed to deliver.
