Hi I want to buy a ...
component video and stereo audio HD cable set for the PS3
I think I know what I want ... but then I'm not 100% sure.
I have seen this at Maplins and there is 1 in stock locally.
I have seen this in GAME and it could be bought free with points
or should I go for something else?
I'm not sure if the 2 items above are actually the correct thing!
help!

Hi, thanks.
It's to go with the HAUPPAUGE HD PVR 1228 that I bought in Currys the other day. I thought it had everything included, but it seems not.
I see that there are some really cheap ones on Ebay... might they be worth considering too?

Threw mine out a few weeks ago along with a mountain of other old cables that I've slowly collected over the decades.
The cable is identical to that of the PS2 (thats where mine was from) and so it'd be surprising if third parties havent nailed how to make a reliable version of it.0 -

ah, the boys have got a PS2 packed away somewhere....
Might start clearing out the cupboards to see if I can find it.

I think that is just the entry level AV Cable that comes with the PS2 and PS3 (Below) and not the HD Version

Mmm I think you're right. I couldn't find the PS2 anyway.
I seem to remember 3 plugs to go into the tv.... we are looking for 5 plugs.
I would like to buy one from a shop, really, as it seems that some leads are prone to ghosting. It just makes returning things easier if bought from the high street.

There is an official Sony PS3 component cable, get it if you can. Alternatively there is a cable set made by Monster.
I'd avoid the cheapo ones myself, they tend to get interference/lines/noise.
(Got a HD PVR myself and the cable Kingsd316 linked to)Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0 -

Thanks, we went with the lead from GAME and used my reward points up. I thought that, if it doesn't work very well then, it can go back.
The videos that DS2 has made today are fantastic definition.
I think I definitely got a bargain...

Now just imagine how could it would be if you were using HDMI rather than component

Unfortunately I couldn't afford a more up to date PVR.
I saw this one in Currys for £39.97 and thought that it was worth buying as a 'starting point'.
The same model is selling on Ebay for £80+ so, if DS gets really interested in video making he could always sell it, later on, to upgrade.
Thank you so much for your help
