I need a replacement laptop (new one had a fall)

Thank you for your replies I'll be checking the links.
I can't fix the laptop as it fell and the corner of the casing is cracked. Fell with a hard bang. I certainly know how this happened as I'm careful with my laptop but it will probably cost a lot to fix.
That's like saying that you can't drive your car any more because the bumper is dented! If it still boots, the crack is purely cosmetic. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Yes it boots but the crack basically means the casing can fall off any time soon. That's like saying that you can't drive your car any more because the bumper is dented! If it still boots, the crack is purely cosmetic.
Plus what it has caused is the black frame around the screen to detach and it's not clicking back together again.
I travel a lot so it won't hold together for much longer that's for sure. I would normally keep it if it was minor but the small fall did a lot of damage and no one is going to fix that as they haven't got the parts for it.Cup of Tea? :coffee:0 -

Agree with the others if you can get parts and fix it yourself. Is your laptop covered by insurance perchance?0

My laptop has been dropped four or five times properly in 4 years.
It recently broke: My son ripped the power plug out pulling the power socket off the main board. £50 saw it fixed by a local laptop repair specialist.
Fix it, don't replace it.0 -
Okay I'll take a look at the parts website and see if I can do it myself. Thank you everyone and for the link.Cup of Tea? :coffee:0

If you have insurance I would at least investigate whether you are covered. You may find that the excess makes it uneconomic to claim.0
