Do School Trip Fees subsidise non-payers?

I think you're missing the point somewhat. If you value an expensive phone contract above your child's educational opportunities then why should I be expected to subside your family?
At what point did I say I valued it more highly? I cannot get out if the contract, it will cost me and I DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY(my husband rang last week to try and get rid of his but we couldn't afford it)
It's a moot point anyway as I need my phone for work so getting rid if it altogether isn't an option for me, it is more so for my husband hence him trying.
Careful how you get off that high horse of yours though won't you... I do fail to see how you're subsidising my child's education though? We pay tax, so I have paid into the pot that helped other families and now is helping us as we get out of the situation we're in.

Aren't you forgetting that families on low incomes or benefits receive around £70 pw in child related benefits, intended specifically to make sure that their children don't lose out?
I sure don't.
Sometimes it is those on 'higher' (as in higher than those classed as low, not actual high pay) that need the help, you cannot know everyone's situations. I am proud to be part of a system that supports those in need ensuring the kids don't go without education wise, yes I don't like it, but at the moment I need that system.NSDs 7/20

I like that not being able to afford ONCE for a visitor to come to school means that a poster can imply I don't care about my children's education.
(And I presume hunting through my posts to 'prove that I don't care about my kids is the done thing here? Nice. )
I am usually thick skinned but you really can shove off (believe me I want to type worse)
Vindictiveness is such an ugly trait.
Now, I shall just go and send my kids up the last few chimneys before bed and go and find a block buttonNSDs 7/20

Don't let the snide comments from high and mighty, and judgemental people get you down hun.
Like someone said further back in the thread; some people would happily see low income families and people on benefits living in sheds, with a candle for light and heat, eating scraps of food that the dog didn't want.
You can get a contract phone for a tenner a month: in some cases less. So for someone to say 'oh you can't afford school trips, but you can afford a phone' is frankly a bit pathetic and nonsensical. People should really do their research and check their facts before they post.0 -
Woah - apologies I went a bit OTT there!, I was not in a good place to read some of those comments.
I detest that some people like to try and 'catch' people out, just because last year we were in an okay place financially, does not mean that now I am. And I cannot suddenly cancel everything we signed up for back then.
For a poster to go and search my posts and quote things I was paying for 10 months ago (when I was also paying for everything at school, including monthly donations to the friends of the school) and use them as a weapon against me now (when they don't know my current situation) really really upset me.
I am sorry others had to read my outburst, I really am. But please, don't judge people too quickly, you CAN'T know the ins and ours of everyone's lives and why they're at where they're at. Yes some people aren't good people, but most are, and are just trying to get by the same as everyone else.
I'm not coming back to this section now, I am not capable of taking comments like that so it is probably for the best!!NSDs 7/20

NO NEED TO APOLOGISE
Some people tend to do this (the bolded bit of your post.) No idea why; I guess they just feel the need to try and get one over on someone, or they feel the need to try and make them look stupid or like they're a liar; whilst conveniently forgetting that peoples opinions and situations often change.
Personally, I think people who trawl through posts from many many months back, to try and use against someone, in an attempt to 'win' the argument, are sad and lame. It also shows that they have run out of things to say to back up their argument. Frankly, I could not be bothered to trawl through months and months of peoples posts. I have better things to do. :cool:0 -
I've said it before, but there are people on tho board who won't be happy until people on benefits start looking and acting like proper peasants, shuffling around workhouses and crying silently into their gruel.
Redouble, get an outfit like this and practice your best grovelling and you might be considered to be acceptably abject:0 -
I notice that most posters are continuing to argue that people could find the money, not whether they should find the money. Most seem to have missed that point. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
