Car rental damage - eek

I just returned from a holiday in Iceland and my rental car door was damaged by an extremely strong gust of wind.
Does anyone know if I would be covered for costs I incurred due to the damage to the car. I paid with my Barclays visa card. The damage wasn't covered by the hire car insurance and was around £700.
thanks

Covered by what?0

Did you take out the optional extra insurance that covers you for such eventualities?
Why would your credit card cover this damage?:hello:0 -
CDW cover is a perk of certain credit cards, mainly in the US though - I've held a Barclaycard for 8 years and have never heard of such cover unfortunately.0

A very optimistic request.0

The only credit card in the UK I'm aware that covers that is the American Express Platinum charge card and the other charge cards if you opt to pay extra.0

There's no cover through a credit card for damage to rental cars.0

For some mysterious reason many people don't understand the obvious difference between protection against rogue/failing suppliers and insurance against unexpected eventualities.0

Yes it will cover it, it will appear on your bill lolDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Barclaycard used to provide FREE purchase protection for accidental damage, loss or theft for the first 90 days on items costing over £50 (remember the TV adverts starring Rowan Atkinson?).
Perhaps that's what the OP had in mind.
Unfortunately, I have a feeling that Barclaycard stopped it for personal accounts several years ago (together with price promise, extended warranty etc) as it was costing them too much money.
