Post Office withdrawals & Santander

  • My new 123 account debit card is definately active as I transferred some cash into the account today via a visit to a local branch, then checked it via the ATM.

The staff in the Santander branch said only the old A&L account numbers would work in the Post Office, which ties in with the view of the local post mistress.

It's confusing and needs someone to bang heads at Santander and/or the Post Office.

Fortunately I have a fairly local Santander branch and can draw money for free at the local supermarket and petrol stations, but it would be nice to be able to use the Post Office!
  • i've got a 123 account and in some post offices it works and some it doesn't. So i cant really say why it does and doesn't but when mine change over my sort code changed too. So i guess its luck of the draw lol

Only former A&L accounts, opened before around June 2010, will work at the post office. Santander business accounts work also.

This includes accounts upgraded since 2010.

I'm not 100% certain, but your debit card must start with 4567 for it to work at the PO.
