    That will be doable. It's a pretty good wage for a lot of people.

    Whilst getting help with budgeting, is it not possible to contact your ex and say you can't pay the mortgage? After all, he's said that he won't see your son homeless; perhaps if it's presented to him that this is exactly what is going to happen, he might suddenly realise and resume payments.



    ETA: I know a few TAs and they supplement their term time income by working in various holiday schools, summer schools, etc, and/or doing things like bar work in the evenings. Is any of this a possibility, bearing in mind your son is old enough to look after himself for a few hours in the evenings?
