  • There are only 2 of us in my house and we used 4600 kwh of electricity and 19600 kWh of gas in the past year.

The figures of average of 3300 kwh of electricity and 16500 kWh of gas are completely unrealistic to people who live in Scotland and OAPs who spend all day with their heating and TVs on.

How do they arrive at these unrealistic figures?
Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:

Because they're averages...they're not supposed to work for OAP's in Scotland. Equally, they will be too high for twenty-somethings out at work all day and partying all night in balmy Sussex.

It must cover from a well insulated bedsit, where the occupants are out at work all day, to thee and me!

Personally I find the 3,300kWh electricity the hardest to understand. If reports on MSE are anything to go by, many of us who heat with gas still use way above 3,300kWh; and presumably that figure covers the millions who heat with electricity.
