Which Tablet? Nexus 7 or Sony Tablet S?

  • JJ Egan,
I agree, newer model is better, but a bit above what I budgeted and still not really happy no SD slot.

    almillar,
How did you know about my eyesight?
Seriously, you do have a good point, the Tablet S would probably be too big to pop in my bag. I have a Kindle and have no problems with the normal font on that.

    Cisco001,
Have almost ruled out the Nexus 7 if it had an expansion port would have been my first choice. The Tablet S looked like a bargain, but as almillar pointed out it isn't as portable, so would probably be left at home with the PC!
I am just going to have to do a little more homework and then pop into a couple of stores and see what the models look and feel like.
Thanks to all of you, will come back when I have made a choice, or if I need some more advice!

No SD slot was the killer for me also .

galaxy note 10.1 with fonts set to large was the buy in the end but last years discount and cashback from Samsung was what swung it .

  • Up until today I would have said the Nexus 7, as I've had mine for over a year and been delighted with it, BUT! Today, the screen on the replacement Nexus 7 (the original device suffered an issue with the battery, but was replaced under warranty) spontaneously cracked, and Google refuse to do anything about it!

This device is less than 3 months old. I'll be staying clear of any Google devices from now on. :(

My first one did this, picked it up one morning crrrrack right across the screen, Ebuyer, Asus and Google all refused to listen!

I stupidly then bought another one when the 32gb version came out, this one has been exchanged by Argos twice now for various reasons, I also bought 2 for my 2 older children and both theirs has been replaces as well, I think it is fair to say that the 1 generation models DID 100% have build quality issues!

  • I have recently gone from a 7 inch tablet to a 10 inch and have to say was really pleased with the bigger screen straight away, from the moment I turned it on it just felt so much more natural to use, everything was just the right size and easier to navigate.

I went for this one Voyager 2 from Sumvision, never heard of them before but their other products had some great reviews, I was really impressed with the spec of it so decided to give it a go and it is fabulous, really fast and high powered and lovely to use, I am so far really pleased with it.

I've got no idea about your eyesight!
Anyway, looks like it's a 7" you want. I don't think £150 is great for the old Nexus 7 TBH. I'd rather spend the extra to get the newer one, even the 16GB. You gain a rear camera, faster processor and better screen.
  • I got a nexus 7 and I absolutely love it. It's quick, battery life is good and easy to use. I'm techie, but my mum isn't and she loves hers as I bought her one for her birthday.

I got a refurb'd one from ebay, Tesco outlet, for about £115. 1 year warranty :-)

Never used the Sony so can't compare sorry.
