Removed from Virgin Media Mailing list

Is it possible to get removed from Virgin Media mailing list? I was a customer 5 years or more ago and cancelled their services in order to save money. I moved house several months ago and nearly every company I have contacted has removed me from their mail list except virgin. As I'm not a customer I can't get through their phone system to speak to a human being. I live overseas and my mum forwards my mail. It's not always obvious the mail is from them, the last letter was in an envelope marked private and confidential. It's costing her and therefore me and I'm not happy. I'd appreciate some help on how I can get them to remove me from their database. Thanks.

Write to them asking them to cease and desist. Why would you need to 'phone them?0

I think you'll find that they do not have you on the mailing list as such. VM's 'spam mail' is just bulk delivered to 'The Householder' by the RM under contract. Accordingly it falls outside the remit of the MPS.
To stop it you have to request the RM to cease all unsolicited mail to your address. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Agreed with the above. I get regular mail from VM and I am not in a cabled area.0

I get such Mail from Virgin Media and I'm already a customer!
If it's not addressed to the OP personally then it's just spam mail sent scattershot fashion to everyone in a given postcode.
Otherwise, the OP should write to Virgin and request removal from their database as I said earlier.0 -
Unfortunately Virgin Media will promise the earth and do nothing.
I've spent the last 10 years phoning & writing to them without any joy. Now everything just gets put back in the post box with Return to Sender written on it.
I hate to think how many trees they destroy each year - not to mention how much of their subscribers monthly fees goes towards this blanket bombing of spam.0 -
Why would you spend time doing this? Spam mail just goes in the re-cycle bin, whoever it's from. Why stress over it?ciderboy2009 wrote: »I've spent the last 10 years phoning & writing to them
The OP is different in that he lives abroad and doesn't want to pay to have spam forwarded.0 -

Ex customers get the householder mail plus mail addressed specifically to them. So for people like me, I have my name and address on a number of mail items which is annoying and the householder stuff can go straight into recycling but for the ex customer stuff I remove my details from each piece of correspondence. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
