First viewing question?

Had our first viewing yesterday and question is, do we ring the estate agent to ask for feedback today or just leave it until they or may not ring us?

If you are interested and want a second viewing ring them, if not I would wait, they will call!
  • Sorry they viewed our house.
  • mine have always rang me the next day about viewings but remember people are at work etc and may not be able to give feedback . If it was me i would leave it today to see if they ring and if not then ring them in the morning.

  • Ok so we had a viewing on Sunday and then one on Monday night, no feedback yet from the estate agent, think its time to ring them and get some from them. We have given them a few days now.
  • Always chase for feedback. Yes it is their job, however they don't always do it. Ask for specifics. If they fob you off with "didn't feel right for them" or "not what they're looking for" push the agent for specific comments on your house. This way they will be sure to ask future viewers for better feedback!

Why ask for specifics? Would you change something someone didn't like? Why, they're not interested. Plenty of people won't give ANY feedback. The EA can't force them to give feedback.

By all means ask the EA to chase them for feedback, but don't blame the EA if they can't get any!

  • Feedback is a complete waste of time. Agents chasing for it is not actually going to bring in offers. A viewer pressed for it will say pretty much anything to get the agent off the phone. They will not actually say "well I just viewed the house because I am a bit nosey and was looking for decorating ideas". Instead they will make up a reason as to why they will not be making an offer. Pretty much the worst thing that you can do is react to one-off comments.

The agents themselves should be the experts on what helps a house to sell and what puts viewers off. Ask the agent themselves to view the house and give you THEIR feedback. They can be reluctant to do this as they don't want to offend their own clients by commentating on gaudy decor, lack of cleanliness etc, but you should push them as they should know what they are talking about.

    Exactly.

    Feedback will be one of:
    - Nothing useful
    - Request for second viewing
    - Offer

If you want _feedback_ on your house post a Rightmove link. People here will tell you _exactly_ what they think!
  • I wouldn't ask the estate agent for feedback, I'd wait a week and If I hadn't had them contact me, I'd be thinking that I might want to change my estate agent. If they haven't phoned you, then they didn't follow up the viewer either.

Agree - if you have to start chasing the EA, they're not doing their job properly but don't put too much store on viewer's feedback. They will sometimes say something bland which will be meaningless or it will be something you can't change.

We've had comments like "There's only one bathroom" and "The downstairs is too small" - well, the photos, measurements and floor plan were on the websites and in the paperwork - why did they bother viewing?
