hi
Has anyone travelled to Haven Golden Sands which is just north of Mabblethorpe by public transport?
How easy it is?
It seems i would have to get train to Skegness - than a bus to Mabblethorpe......but from there i am stuck....
If i go i will be travelling on the Friday evening having got the kids from school at 3.30 so will not get into skegness until 7.30ish....
has anyone done the trip by public transport? is there an easier way?

But I tried that and couldn't find any buses that late in the day.
The site is less than a mile from the centre of Mablethorpe, so if you can get to Mablethorpe, perhaps a taxi or walk?0 -
Last bus leaves skegness for Mablethorpe at 6.20pm0

National Express coach NX449 departs Skegness at 7pm, arrives Mablethorpe at 7.55pm0

Going back a lot of years to when I worked there. There's a local firm called "Grayscroft" who ran a service to the site from Mablethorpe.
There's only one b in Mablethorpe, that could be what's causing problems with your search.
It's more than a mile walk from the bus station, and Quebec Road feels endless when you're walking down it with your bags.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -

thanks everyone for your replies - why is public transport so useless:mad:
I was trying to work out how to take the kids away for a cheap few nights away without taking them out of school on the friday... (the monday is an inset day)
lots of cheap offers for Haven Golden sands where as Haven Thorpe Park has no cheap deals but Haven Thorpe Park is probably a cheapish taxi journey from cleethorpes Train station)
any idea how much a taxi skegness to Haven Golden Sands would be or how i can find out??

Best part of a 20 mile journey between Skegness and Mablethorpe. £20 - £40 or more i guess?
A bus goes past the site from Mablethorpe, Not sure if its the same bus that goes to Skegness?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

There is Richmond holiday park in Skegness, about a mile from the railway station. That may be easier to get to0

The walk from the main town, whilst a bit 'endless' on the last stretch as skivenov says, isn't too far, and there are places you can grab a seat along the way if you need.
For the rest of the holiday (daytime traveling), if you don't feel like walking, there is a dedicated Golden Sands bus (seen it going up and down Quebec Road, but never used it, so don't know timetabling), and if it's not closed for 'out of season', the road train too (little jeep-pulled thing with a couple of carriages). From Golden Sands to the beach itself is just a short hop across the road, up and over the dunes (you can see the footpaths on google maps) ... and from there you can catch the sand train (like the road train, but splashes through the water too - kids love it) which will take you along the beach to the main amusements etc ... so again, not too bad.
Edit - just realised there's a Skeg to Mablethrope problem too - would it be easier to catch an early train on Saturday morning if the park allows a delayed check in? The earliest bus I can see leaves Skeg around 8am, getting in to Mablethorpe at 9.20 - so you wouldn't loose that much actual holiday time.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
