Hi all,
simple question, I hope!
We have an HDMI TV - I don't know what that measn, butcan we view online stuff through the TV?
We have freeview and don't want to go back to cable TV.
If we got Netflix could we view that through TV? If through internet should we upgrade to BT infinity? We currently use about 5GB on a 10GB contract.#
Thanks
HB

Even at their lowest quality setting, Netflix can use up 0.3GB of data an hour. So I would recommend moving to a higher usage package (if possible unlimited).0 -
You'll need some sort of smart tv device to be able to watch netflix = http://www.ehow.com/info_8289299_system-requirements-movies-netflix.html
You'd be well advised to switch to an unlimited package unless you only want to watch a (very) few hours per month or you'll end up paying a fortune in overuse fees. Figure 0.5GB per hour absolute minimum with HD being maybe 2GB per hour.0 -
You don't need FTTC to stream TV: 3Mbps is usally quite adequate (if you can get that via ADSL)
However you will need a tariff offering you more than a 10GB per month cap.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If you happen to have a gaming console in your house there's a good chance you can use that for Netflix. I know the Xbox 360 and PS3 definitely do it.
You'll definitely want to go to an uncapped package as a couple of evenings watching things on Netflix could completely eat up a 10GB allowance.
In terms of speed 3Mbps should be suitable but you'll probably want at least 5Mbps to get a nice steady stream. It completely depends on your area but many people can get at least 10Mbps if not much higher than that without needing FTTC.0 -

And the Wii! In fact, watching netflix is the only time we actually use the Wii now. And, on a side note, a massive reason for getting netflix HAS to be Breaking Bad!0 -
