Had the exact same problem solution was to buy the part from ford £52 not too bad for a genuine part fitted it myself only 2 bolts works exactly as it should. Wouldn't bother getting a used one from eBay as they could have the same problem at least I know with a genuine ford I have 12 month warranty :-)
Hi, exactly which part did you buy from FORD? Do you have the part number, and how easy was it to fit please?0 -
One year on, still never got this fixed.
Anyone else?0 -
I cured a similar problem on a ford ka, by loosening hinge bolts and manipulating the tail gate whilst bolts were slack. It cured two problems , one was a knock/clunk sound every time I went over a large rut in the road from the tailgate , and cured boot release problems from switch. I now drive a Mini and am getting n ew Cooper next week to run ragged. Fords tin cans on wheels. Having said that they got me around for a while. Minis have something that excites, bit of grunt too:rotfl:
That Ka was a Zetec with all the bells , but still a tin can on wheels, Come over to the mini world where superior beings are:rotfl:Those are your mission orders , you will obey obey obey0 -
Not sure if this is still relevant but had the same problem on my daughters 2007 Fiesta
Could here the solenoid operating but when stripped down only partially.
Having read another forum post decided to take the Solenoid unit apart, takes a little patience and dexterity but once apart you are left with the exposed motor and worn drive.
Lifting the motor from the case and testing on a spare 12V battery the motor operated but was very slow and could be easily stopped with my fingers (not recommended if it's working correctly)
Deciding on taking the motor apart I cleaned all parts with surgical alcohol, polishing contacts and armature with extremely fine emery paper prior to washing everything down once again in alcohol and then carefully reassembling the motor ensuring everything (contacts, etc...) were back in place before testing on a spare battery (motor was probably 50 x faster and there was no way I was doing the finger test to stop it!!!)
Reassembling the solenoid unit, a little silicone grease on the worn drive and super glue to put he case back together before re-installing in the car and testing
Hey hoe, button on dash and key fob both open boot
Not sure how long it will work for but all it took was a little patience but a good £50 saving
