SIM Only for Iphone

Hi everyone!

I'm currently on O2 and my contract ends in February, I plan to give them the required notice to stop the contract.

I've been on this part of money supermarket:
http://www.moneysupermarket.com/mobile-phones/brands/sim-only/sim-only-for-iphone/

I want to keep my current phone and just have a sim card, however I'm unsure about a few things.

1. Can I keep my current number?
2. One month contracts, do you just top up at a store after the 1st month?
3. With O2 can I still get access to there vouchers/deals?
4. On the money supermarket website the drop down section has sims for iPhone 4s or iPhone. Will the iPhone sims work in my 4S?

4S uses the same size of sim card as 4.
Generally, you don't need a special contract/sim for iPhone. Don't know if this changed recently, but networks used to try robbing iPhone customers by offering overpriced 'iPhone contracts'. If needed, a normal 'mini' sim card can be easily (or cheaply) cut to a 'micro' size that 4-4S require.

    1. If you change the network you can take your number with you. It's simple - that's what PAC exists for.

    2. You don't 'top up' contract sims. Normally it's a DD, but theoretically you can pay by other means (some networks may charge extra for this). That said, there are some PAYG providers that work similarly to 1-month contracts, e.g. Giffgaff 'goodybags'.

    3. I don't know, but I guess you can. Just read the information on their website. However, I think you can find a better deal elsewhere.

    4. See above and http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3275&idPhone2=4212

Would recommend u get it unlocked before you cancel the contract.
  • If you fill out the unlocking form on the O2 website they unlock your iphone free if you are on contract.
    You can do this anytime.

Ye my phone is now unlocked.

I went in the O2 shop today and was told to go sim only I just have to tell them on the day that's what I want.

I intend to stay with O2 anyway.

So do I have to give a months notice before I go sim only?
