This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning :hello:
We went to a fab wedding yesterday :T Unfortunately as mr tru was best man, all the wedding party men congregated in my kitchen at 9am. It was not nice. But they all went out for a big breakfast so I had an hour's peaceGroom announced he was going for a walk for a few minutes. Twenty minutes later, his son was panicking because his suit was in the car and groom had the keys. I rang groom, he said 'Oh yeah, forgot about that. I'll be back in a mo, just having a run up the hill' That's all very well, but we have to leave in half an hour, you loon. We all got there on time
The service was great, the reception was lovely and the evening do had hardly any bad music
The bride instructed the DJ to discard all cheesy music, and play rock all night :T A couple of women actually complained (I mean properly complained, they whined at the DJ, he said he was just following instructions so they complained to the bride!!) and said they wanted to dance to stuff like ABBA. So the DJ played Tiffany and one other really bad song then went back to Joan Jett and Whitesnake. lol. I was feeling cool because someone called me a rock chick
I went to bed at 1am and was awake at 6am, no hangoverJust had a huge bowl of shreddies and I'm still hungry. I bought a large chicken the other day, I'll make a big roast for dinner.
I have a load of washing to put on and that's about it for todayI'm going to flake out on the sofa all afternoon. I really should go and try to scrap yesterday's make-up off my face - it's not very attractive

Good Morning chums
Hope everyone is well.
Well I did all of my ironing yesterday thank goodness and the sewing as well.Just sat down to relax last night and DD phoned to say she had broken down.So rushing around collecting boys from different venues and getting them home and feeding them while she waited for RAC to arrive .The promised 90 minute wait ended up to be almost 3 hours.I had to join her up quickly as their RAC cover only covered her OHs car.
So £141 later they said the chap would be on his way.He diagnosed a broken keel bar and towed her home. Then when she asked about getting it to a garage on Monday she was told that RAC would want another £85.00 plus £4.00 a mile to tow it to the garage only 100 yards from where she broke down !!!To say she's not happy is an understatement ,especially as it was me who bailed her out quickly with my credit card last night .
She's not having a lot of luck at the moment poor lass.
Today I have my eldest coming this morning for coffee and a natter and I have a bit of tidying up to do and a quick whizz around with the hoover.
Bit grey looking outside at the moment but at least its not cold .
Have a good one what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning all!
Hardly slept a wink last night, DS came home somewhat worse for wear and decided it would be wise to sleep wrapped around the toilet after hurling all over the bathroom, not amused at having to scrub it out at 2am, I have already woken him, ranted at him, and threatened that I will be asking my brother to stay when he comes to take me to the airport, you can imagine the sheepish pathetic faces being pulled!
Just heading for the shower, then hair and pollyfilla to do so I can get the case locked up! "See" you all in 2 weeks:)RIP Iain

Good morning everyone
Sun is shining and towels and bathmats are all out on the line.
No dinner to cook today as we are going out with DD and GDD for a curry to celebrate DH's birthday last week. DH is ironing work shirts at the moment, then we are having a cooked brekkie to keep us going until curry time.
Talking of brekkie, I have a new low carb discovery. Have started making cauliflower mash as a meal accompaniment. First we perked it up a bit by adding some fried cabbage and bacon bits, sort of colcannon but obviously no potatoes. Now we have discovered we can make some extra and make bubble and squeak style cakes to fry up the next day. It's very yummy and totally allowed.
Hope all trips taking children to uni for the first time went well. Our DD has just started her final year but she is based close to home and never had to move, also she is older and had already lived away from home. I do feel for anyone who is being parted for the first time.
Trying not to think about work today but next and possibly final group consultation meeting is Tuesday so will report back after that. Wonderful DH bought me a Paul McKenna anti-stress book and CD yesterday and he managed it good MSE and OS style as it was a charity shop bargain!
Jools - have a wonderful holiday

Morning all,
Jools have a fab holiday
TTFTM hope the Paul McKenna works
It's lovely here, the sun is shining. Dh and I are planning to harvest our onions and potatoes this morning, they will be left in the shed to dry out for a few days.
DS 3 has gone off to work, he made £40 in tips yesterday:eek: combined with his hourly rate this is fab money for. 17 yr old. He was very pleased and has gone off with a spring in his step this morning.
The meal was much. S expected last night, very much the kind of place where people stand around waiting to be seen, I was the only women without 6 inch heels and a skirt just about covering my knickers:rotfl:
Anyway glad it's over. Looking forward to a nice peaceful pottering day. Tea for us is chicken and bacon. Ds3 has requested a steak sand which with mushrooms.
Enjoy your Sunday xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning all,
too much caffeine at bedtime last night meant I was still rattling the keys on the keyboard till 2.30 this morning. I was shattered after I came back from shopping too.
Ok, I said i'd not go down that route again but ive bought a box of hair dye. I'm sick of the digs from hubby about the colour of my hair (or rather lack of it because i'm very grey). Not that he's the only consideration i'm getting a bit sick of it too.
Anyway, the box is sitting on the kitchen worktop. I keep reminding myself that it took months for me to strip my hair back to natural last time I coloured it.... so it will sit on the work top until I stop dithering.
Talking about hubby... Whats the point in sulking when he don't even notice? I might as well be invisible. For goodness sake I only want him to stick the junk out of the greenhouse into the shed! He says he cant cause theres no room in the shed... and theres no room in the sheds because of the amount of junk he's accumulating! This is really becoming an issue between us now. Theres tools in that shed that was my Dads and my Dad died in 1980. To this day hubby has never used them and they are rusty but he wont part with them.
Anyway. I'm stuck in limbo at the moment. The men are in bed so I cant vacuum, its no good doing the kitchen floor either as I think hubby is going to mow the lawn and the dogs always bring in half the garden with them when he is doing it. I'll just go and ponder this box of hair dye a little longer.

Morning,
Jools - Have a fab holiday.
Tru - Glad you enjoyed the Wedding.
TTFTM - ....and relax
Hopefully it's going to turn into a gloriously warn day, if only for a couple of hours. Fingers crossed!
DH has just popped some Soda bread in the oven, so warm bread and jam for brekkie
I want to go out later and try to find some Elderberries so I can have a go at making the 'like worcester sauce' stuff, can't remember the name.
DH bought home some thick plastic from a conservatory he has dismantled and is going to construct a small greenhouse to house some herbs and stuff over Winter. Very MSE.
Bought a cooked piece of ham in Aldi yesterday and thought I'd make Ham, Egg and chips tonight.
Can't wait for Downton tonight either. :j:j:j
Have a great day!0 -
Hi all,
Had the slow cooker on for the past couple of hours. Got some smart price casserole beef and plenty of beef stock in there :-) BF doesn't like veg or anything like that, so I do just the beef, for about 10 hours and he loves it with plenty of my Yorkshire puds! I do my own veg to go with mine!
Had to go into town yesterday to get him a white shirt for tomorrow's funeral, and decided to have a slow stroll to Chinatown to treat myself to a bubble tea :-) mmm!
Really looking forward to the new series of Downton Abbey tonight!
Hope you all have a good day :-)the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0
