At the height of my debt i used to volunteer to walk in the freezing cold to the burger van near work to get the bosses lunch because it meant i'd get a free lunch as he was too lazy to go.
i only had toast at home for breakfast and dinner so a salad baguette was worth the numb hands and feet.

i also pinched coffee from work by pouring it into my coat pockets :(

When i was about 10 years old my sisters friend stole a "pair" of shoes, but it wasn't a pair as it was two left feet.....she threw them away, so i took them for dressing up!

We were so poor that they were the nicest pair of shoes i owned at the time, so i wore them anyway! Once i'd broken them in, they were fine and shaped to my feet within a few days!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

In the days before tissues my grandma used to carry a brown paper bag around with her. When she saw a hanky on the floor that had been dropped, she picked it up and put it in the bag to take it home and boil it. Never bought hankies.
  • I had to sell the ring my parents gave me for my 25th birthday so I could buy Christmas presents for my family. That was pretty humiliating going onto a jewlers to try and get them to buy it.
