I was disappointed the first time I flew with Virgin, In my mind I expected them to be far superior to Thomas Cook, Thomson, first choice charters etc (i'm talking long haul planes here, not your 2 hour charter to Spain), but I didn't think they were other than the free food and drinks. Then I flew with BA and they were how I imagined so no in my opinion Virgin aren't worth the extra.

    We prefer BA.
And BA's hand baggage allowance is better than Virgin's
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

Thank you everyone - the consensus is clear! Holiday now booked with BA flights :j

And feeling smug having saved few £££'s which can splash out of a catamaran trip and a couple of cocktails :D

yup, I agree with this. have flown with Virgin to Florida every year for 15 years. Last year saved £300 with BA and they were fine. Going with BA again this year. They have a better cabin baggage weight allowance too. They do twilight check-in at Gatwick, no idea about Heathrow.

I didn't know that BA were doing twilight check-in now, that's interesting...we normally fly Virgin and love that option from Gatwick...good to know.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • I've always found BA's staff to be so much more helpful and friendly than Virgin's, as well as the fact I prefer BA's seat. There's not much difference in food really.

No offence, Del, but you shouldn't need to, the prices should be competitive to begin with.
Offering a price match is a bit like when you phone your current insurer to tell them you've got a cheaper quote and they say they'll match it to keep your business - they have an opportunity to give their best offer when they send the renewal! If they haven't done that then they're not being honest.

If Virgin can do that trip for a cheaper price, then that should be their best price in the first place!

Agreed. Plus you don't have to do battle with that horrendous foreign call centre!

It can sometimes come down to how busy the flights are

We always try to be competative in the market place

In this case the flights with Virgin could be busy therfore the class of seats may of been at a higher cost

There are lots of factors to consider

There are retail stores around the country now guys so if you would rather not contact our call centre you can pop in to your local agent

Most of the sales calls are handled by our call centre in Crawley

    Thanks
