best dishwasher tablets?

We started using any 3 in one tablets that were on offer, but we've moved into a house where there was a half size dishwasher (HORRIBLE, never dries anything properly, takes ages even though it hardly takes any dishes at all) and we have had to go back to using powder because the tabs just jumped into the cutlery basket - no matter where we put it - and then didn't dissolve properly. Anyone recommend any particular powder (or liquid), please?
PS the machine was an almost-new Hotpoint - never again.0 -

I've always used To$co value dishwasher tablets but we do have very soft water. I had a dishwasher where the tablet dispenser thingy broke and got equally good results just chucking the tablet in the bottom of the dishwasher. Will cost you nothing to give it a go.0 -
we use the Aldi ones too and have no complaints, but stay clear of the morrisons own brand ones - bloomin awful!0
