This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Hello all,
So glad it's finally the weekend. Had a late shift at work last night which was going fine until someone sprayed perfume near me and it set my asthma off. Ugh. Didn't feel well for the rest of the night. Got home about 8.30, straight into my pyjamas and lay on the sofa watching BF play on Grand Theft Auto 5. He must be the only person I know who got it on release day and didn't start playing it until yesterday!
Nothing much to do today. Need to go into town at some point to get BF a white shirt for the funeral on Monday, and I need to go food shopping tonight. Looking forward to slow cooker beef tomorrow night and the new series of Downton Abbey!
Hoping to do some crocheting this weekend as well.
Hope you all have a good day!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Morning all
Off to work in a minute but only till 11. Then taking dd1 to uni , how we will fit everything into the car I really don't know.
Dd2 is staying at home , writing her personal statement , I don't envy her doing that.
glitterkitty I have to say I don't .understand the love for computer games. I've just seen an excerpt of GTA it looks disturbing- maybe it's a man thing lol
Have a good day everyone xx0 -

It's actually very impressive when you watch it, the graphics are very good. I also think it's hilarious you can go cow tipping in the game!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Good morning everyone
Weather is dry at the moment so am risking putting the washing out, I hope I don't regret it later.
Big list of jobs to do but have already done bathroom and kitchen, now on stripping bed and hence more washing, then a break for brekkie.
Am going for a walk/mooch around this afternoon, I need some fresh air more than I need a tidy house at the moment. Am really looking forward to a long weekend next week but not the 3 days work that comes before it.
Free listing weekend on ebay so must get some stuff on there too. Have done quite well this week so must keep up the effort and get more funds for our endowment shortfall fund.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning x
Flying visit as taking DD to university today. She has worked her socks off and overcome many obstacles including sever dyslexia.
Very proud of her and excited for her future but will really miss her xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning everyone,
Molly Hope that you and your DD have a lovely day.
I am beginning to think that DD2 has dyslexia and I am wondering about getting her tested, she is 13 and coping well but I feel that she does has some difficulties that could definitely be explained by dyslexia.
LW Hope that you had a good holiday.
Halight Where are you?
Hugs to all in need (or anyone that wants one!)
I cannot believe how busy I have been at work this week, need to catch up on the housework this weekend.
Off to town later to get a birthday present for DD1 and then I need to drop DD1 at the hospital where she is starting volunteering in the neonatal unit. She wants to be a doctor eventually and thinks that this is a way to help her dream.
Only one day to Downton!!!!:T
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all,
Dh and ds3 both working today so they will be off shortly. I shall slowly potter and try and get the cleaning done. It's difficult with my leg at the moment, the slightest wrong move is agony but I shall take it slowly.
Bedding was washed during the week so a polish and tidy upstairs and clean the bathroom, I'm hoping by the time I get downstairs dh will be back:o
He doesn't often work Saturdays but my middle boy needed to earn some extra money so he has booked a couple of jobs in they can do together so that he can earn it rather than borrow it. He is taking his gf away for the night for her birthday.
It's my youngest first proper day as a concierge after training so he is hoping for lots of tips:D
Haven't managed to get out of the meal tonight so will have to paste on a smile and go it is early though we are meeting at 6 I'm hoping to be home for 8 and in my pjs:eek:
Trying to get back to healthy eating now my brother has gone home but it's not easy, why am I always more hungry in the winter time.
Anyway have a good Saturday whatever your up to xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Cloudy but dry here this morning.
DH and DS1 up and off to work stupid early. They are then going to move some furniture for SIL - (DH is not happy about it as we don't have anything particularly to do with her and got a grovelling text earlier on in the week) as he and her don't get on and I end up kind of in the middle keeping the peace but she's not my most fav person, (she's just really hard work) after her partner drove his car into our garage door (I saw him do it and then they drove off) then when I contacted them to say I'd seen him do it and he'd bent the door so badly that it had jammed the door shut and damaged all the frame to the point where a whole new frame and door was needed they then questioned that we were being untruthful!!! I just keep remembering friends you pick, family you're stuck with!!
Dinner last night was chicken and ham kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had mushroom omlette and salad, the last of the jam and cream sponge was eaten for dessert. Tonight will be creamy tomato pasta bake with roasted chicken pieces - not particuarly happy to be having chicken again but bought it to have Monday night checked the date and they need to be used by today - will check the date properly next time!
This morning I will be getting a shower, then brekkie once I have finished on here. Then will be getting any washing, drying and ironing done (won't be hardly anything, as emptied basket over last couple of days), do some baking/cooking, think I may make a chocolate cake - don't remember the last time I made one. Will probably make some more twinks too.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
just getting ready to rush off to Sainsbys as I still have some £8 off £40 spend vouchers to use and it would be ungrateful not to. I can't say I've missed Mr T.
Wet here, so I'm glad I did two loads of washing yesterday. I've got to strip the bed today and sort through DH's wardrobe with him. One of my retirement investments was non-slip hangers throughout and it's his turn todayHe'll like that I'm sure...!
Now that DH has a date for his next heart apt we know where we are so will nip up to Edinburgh for a few days. It's hardly a grand retirement holiday, but that's what happens sometimes - you have the money for the QM2 and then he goes off and buys a car with it as he was under chemo and irrational. It's not even a nice car - too small and ugly, ugly. Me, bitter? :rotfl:
Well, off to get wet in the pursuit of food, xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Wow, seems a lot of you off on the uni run... Hope all goes smoothly. I've a while (years even) before my go but have been thinking that I need to put money aside for those 'initial costs' once my IVA etc are finished. I have so much planned for this extra money that I will have that I might have to plant it and hope a money tree grows!
I have tons on this weekend and have two costly weeks ahead. I learnt the hard way last year so am semi planned. Dance comps, brownie camp, school trip money, rainbow activities and dd2 has been invited to a party to her best friends house which is on my only night out that has been planned for months. Bless her though because when we checked the diary she did ask if she had to say she couldn't go. Dd1 chipped in 'no, mummy will just arrange to meet them at the second pub!' I love my kids!LOL!
I think the untidy fairies have been out last night so I best get started putting their things away!
Have a good week end all!Don’t put it down - put it away!
