  • No such thing as a current account without credit check, I am afraid.

Why do you fear a credit check?

Barclays do a basic account, which is available to anyone. As you don't get an overdraught or cheque book, you can still have one with a poor credit history, if that is the reason you don't want a check.

You need £100.00 to open the account BUT after that the operating balance is £1.00. Hope this helps.

You will find some banks do not actually credit check you for a basic bank account.

However they will do an indentity and know your customer checks via the CRAs.

You could look for a credit union in your area? The bigger ones do a current account but most operate savings via payroll deduction or via a paypoint type card. You need to provide evidence of ID and address but I don't think they credit check you to open a savings account.
