Hi this started as a challenge from a firend that i would not be able to get a good deal because of my age (14)

Firstly Vodafone, It started as 100 minutes, 200 texts and a sony ericcson k700 no insurance and no itemised billing at £25 p/m. the contract i got is £15 p/m with a new sony ericsson w950i, with 225 minutes and 500 texts, i manged to haggle them to an 18 month contract with 15 month half price line rental, i got 3 months free insurance and free itemised billing. PLease tell me if you want to know more or you have any comments on it.

Secondly Orange. I was firstly offered a £25 p/m contract with 100 mins and 250 texts, and a sony ericsson w880i, i managed to get them to , £25 p/m, free insurance for 18 months, unlimited/3000 texts and 500 minutes, plus a 1gb memory card and also £100 credit which effectively pays for the first four months of the contract.

PLease give any comments, or if you want to know more on how i managed this please post back!!!

Thanks

you sound like you know what you're doing. I am looking for a decent phone on a contract and just don't know where to start. Any advise would be appreciated.

Did you tell these phone companies how old you are? The legal age for entering into a contract in this country is 18 years

I'd be very interested to know how you got these networks to give you such deals.

Firstlywith up orange, ring up as if a new monthly customer, bartar with them then ask to be put through to retentions even though you are not renewing a contract, When there, state a deal from 3 i asked for 150 mins and 750 txts, n they gave me what i stated earlier, then thy will say about 3's bad customer services, then say about other big providers deals i chose vodafone. Threy wi will beg you to go to orange,

If already on orange threaten to ask for your port authorisation code. You will be put through to them, they will ask you why you want to leave, explain that oranges deals are not godd enough and they will probably make it better.

Vodafone are much easier, ring up as if you want to join, state what you want and the phone you want, i chose their £25 package with 500 txts and 150 mins, it already has 6 months half price, then tell them thta you want at least 3 months extra half price to change your number, then bring in the killer, tell them you have seen better at your rival........orange, then their policies go to pot, they will give you a better phone and better line rental!!!

as stated by chocolatepie, if you told them your age then you would have been refused and disconnected immiedietly, if you did`nt and are just making up usage for yourself to see what they say, then your not really getting an accurate reflection of offers,

Also i`m aware on how retentions work and i`m very surprised that they are entertaining you as you need a valid account that is due to expire or is ready for an upgrade for them to make any money commission wise

In answer to that, i did tell them my age and they did say i could not set up an accouunt myself. I was genuinly trying to get a good deal as my friends challenge came about because i needed a new phone, so i told them that the account would be in my dads name which is what i have done with the vodafone contract.

    Hope this clears anything up

I am such a cynic - I can't help think the challenge from a friend was to see how many people he could sucker into trying this
