Reporting carriageway defects to the Council

Update:
I will, tomorrow drive along the 500m stretch and report back here. It's an A road which includes a bridge over a railway line. So, you can imagine it is fairly busy.
Yesterday, I cycled in my normal route around my house. Part of the route includes a road with a decent surface - the occasional botched repair here and there but nothing unusual. Yesterday, though I noticed that this quiet residential road had been completely resurfaced since I last used that route. 100m of brand new smooth tarmac on a road with less than 10% of the road that I reported needing repairs.
I guess a councillor lives on the resurfaced one.
I've raised a formal complaint to the Council.0 -

A complaint, why????
I thought the whole point of your posts was that your council were doing nothing. Why complain when they do something?0 -
I have to say that I've had no problems whatsoever from my local Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils' highways departments. I've always received a full, positive, personal reply and, where applicable, have noticed that quick action has been taken (ie. overgrown warning signs). If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?
