midweek wedding

We married on a Tuesday, half term week so that all the children could be there (plus guests who work in schools etc). Everyone turned up, it was lovely, and no one complained about taking a day off - if they want to be there, they will find a way!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

It's the first day of her school holidays. Not all schools even in the same borough have exactly the same dates0 -
We got married on a Friday and everyone that was invited turned up to the day.
It didn't save us any money, as it wasn't a package deal. We booked a Historic Scotland castle for the ceremony, booked 2 years in advance for £350. I checked the price to hire the castle a few weeks before our wedding, it was £1150 to hire
We hired out a local hall, brought in a company to dress the venue, brought in our own caterer, hired our own dj etc etc. Worked out perfectly!
If people want to be there, they will get the day off if they can. But £7k is a substantial saving, I'm not sure I could justify going for a weekend date just to have more people there if the people that I really wanted to be ther can make a weekday.
Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
I got married on a Wednesday as at the time we worked in the type of business where weekends were the busiest time.
Everyone we wanted there made it as we gave them about 6 months notice. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
I hat midweek weddings and generally woulldn't go to them
I only get 3 - 4 days holiday a year that I can take when I want and I hate using them for a wedding!
So it depends on your guests - if they are all local and you don't mind them only coming to the evening do or leaving early etc, then go ahead.
However if you have guests coming long distances I think its unfair to expect them to come midweekWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
I've been invited to a couple of midweek weddings and had to decline because, short of feigning illness, I simply couldn't get the time off.0

nephew recently got married on a wednesday and had a lot of refusals. problem seemed to be it involved the day of wedding off, the hangover thursday and then as it was that close to the weekend sure we may as well take the friday off too, so that meant 3 days off.0

Well hopefully 2/3rds of her guests don't have children in LEA's that have holidays starting after that, but I doubt 2/3rds of her guests even have children, so probably a moot point

Its your wedding, have it on which day is suitable to you. I went with a friday and saved a fortune, and was very nervous over the actual ceremony and no-one was able to seek and watch us getting married, only invited people which was what we wanted0
