midweek wedding

My logic would be
You won't save £7k on the wedding as you won't be holding a wedding for 150 or so if its on a Monday. Well 150 won't attend. It would be a 50 person max type wedding and so a much smaller saving based on the cost of 50 at weekend versus Monday.0 -
Which is more important to you - a fancy venue at a discount rate, or having more of your friends and family there? Been married twice, and never spent more than £7k (way less in fact) on the entire day. Still nice, classy, enjoyable events.
Did get married on a Sunday the first time and felt peed off when people left substantially early. It finished at something like half 10, so not exactly late for a one off event.
If you have lots of teachers in the family/friends who you want there, I'd not consider a weekday (unless school hols).

OH and I wish we could do midweek, but both our mothers work in education so it's a no go!
My mum doesn't work on Fridays, so we looked into that, but the venues who gave us enough details seem to have worked that trick out and charge nearly as much as a Saturday - but yes Mondays are much less!Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard0 -
I got married on a weekday but gave everyone months and months notice. Only 2 people had problems getting time off, and they just came to the evening event. Saved a substantial amount of money on many vendors - I haggled with most, who were probably less likely to get another booking on a Thursday. If I did the whole thing again (fingers crossed I won't
) I'd still have a weekday event!
If you're only having 40 people perhaps you'd be best off sending some emails/ringing around and seeing if it would be a problem for them.0 -
People who can't attend during the day because of work might still be able to make the evening bash, so I think that it would be a good idea to have them RSVP separately for these - if it's just yes/no then you'll end up with people not coming at all when they could have come later.[STRIKE][/STRIKE]I am a long term poster using an alter ego for debts and anything where I might mention relationship problems or ex. I got married on a monday, i did it in the 6 week holidays and nearly everyone invited turned up. Every one invited made it to the actual ceremony it was just the evening do where a few people didnt show.Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

We got married on a Wednesday. It wasn't to save money initially (we wanted it on the anniversary of when we met) but the savings were a bonus.
It was a small wedding though, so not too many people needing time off work/school. It would have been much harder if it was 100 or so people.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. If we go ahead and book i will send out some save the day cards,
We are only having close family and in total is 40 people.
I am oping that they will just let us have a meal as i don't think we will have an evening do, as other half thinks the family might of had enough by then, as children are quite young 6 under 8 years old!
i just want my dream of a castle wedding, good food and my nearest around me, we are both second marriages so don't want too much fuss.
Just to say the very best wedding I have been to was a lovely wedding with lunchtime/afternoon reception and no evening do. It finished at about 6 pm and was just perfect so I support your OH in this.0 -

I went to a great wedding too that only had the afternoon reception, was nice as got to take my shoes off and relax without being completely wiped out the next day from being up so late!
As someone who works 3/4 weekends and shifts attending a midweek wedding would be a bonus!I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

I really don't think, given 10 months notice and being at the start of the school holidays 2/3rds of the guests won't be able to come.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
