Residential Status options not applicable

Options
The eligibility checker on this site only has four residential statuses, none of them apply to the applicant. The applicant lives with a single mortgage homeowner (not parents) and does not pay towards it.

Options are:
  • Homeowner
  • Private Tenant
  • Council Tenant
  • Living with Parents
These statuses also appear to carry across the other eligibility checkers on lender's sites.

Fluid customer service were useless, after 20 minutes on the phone and 5 transfers later, not one person I spoke to could help and on the 6th transfer they cut me off.

Can anyone help? I see no way of progressing with the eligibility check, let alone an actual card application.

Does not apply, as per the original post.

Applicant does not rent a property from a landlord.
  • Private tenant would be the closest. It's what I tend to put as our house comes with my husband's job and that's hardly ever an option!

Agree, but it's not the correct status so I would not want the applicant to select it. It also doesn't reflect their financial status so more risk of not being accepted as a result.

I'm looking for help in what can be done to combat this, I am amazed there is not an 'Other' option.
  • What is your relationship to the owner? Partner? friend?

I am the owner, applicant is my partner.

The thing is, an "other" option wouldn't help the company with the application. At least if you pick the option that is most like the reality it gives them some sort of indication.

I'd be tempted to go with "living with parents" as the closest option. I know you're not his mum but, financially, it is very similar.

For a long term partner I would choose homeowner. They presumably do contribute to the household even if it isnt explicitly a set amount of money that is explicitly for the purposes of paying the mortgage.

Correct, no payment towards mortgage but contributes towards the running of the house.

But would they not then expect to see an outstanding mortgage on the applicant's credit file? And if they don't see one, would that imply living mortgage free, which the applicant isn't?
