Sky 50% discount - Try this!

Hi all

I missed out on the recent Sky 50% discount voucher from the MSE website so I thought I would just share this conversation from a Sky representative yesterday - 19/09/2013. It was worth a stab with nothing to lose but it worked for me :j

Me:

"...I wish to join Sky (today perhaps) but the cost when compared to my now expired Virgin Media contract is not really worth the hassle. Are there any more 50% discount promotions coming for Sky TV?.."

Sky representative

"...you are luck we are having 50% discount for today on TV..."

I am now a Sky 'TV only' customer with 50% discount applied for the duration of the contract. For other reasons, I wished to keep my VirginMedia BB and Phone.

I wonder if this deal is always available or whether they hold some codes back?

PS I started the conversation from a chat dialogue on the Sky website.

These offers are normally applied only for six months, not the whole duration of the 12 month minimum term. You should probably check with Sky (unless you have it in writing already) exactly how long the discount lasts.

100% in writing that the discount is for 12 months - duration of contract.

Please be very careful - I had a 12 month half price deal and they are now trying to say it was six - luckily I had printed it out at the time or I wouldn't have had a leg to stand on.

Thanks for all of your advice. I too am quite careful and keep all correspondence in writing.

I have a copy in PDF form of the chat session, order summary and the 'Sky secure checkout - Your order placed' and all three show the 12 month discount.

Finally, beware making any changes to your account during the 12 months - the discount will instantly cease if you do.

Yes! My colleague who is a Sky customer was caught out after changing his package. The discount didn't apply to the new add-on AFAIK.
