What do you deem 'love' to be?

Where he's busy, completely absorbed in what he's doing, glances up and sees you, looks in your eyes, smiles and then goes back to what he's doing.
Where you're splodged out together on the sofa or just falling asleep and he strokes your hair or face without even realising he's doing it.
Where you are walking together and his hand is there to take yours automatically.
Where you're both so skint, you can barely afford food, but he comes round with a meal consisting largely of beans, but is really proud that he found two cadburys buttons chocolate puddings yellow stickers for 9p, so you can have a treat.
When he's there, wherever it is, and you feel like you're home.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Far more difficult, I think, to love someone who has different values.
Then there are likes and dislikes. For instance, my partner is a bit messy whereas I like things pretty organised. It's just one of those things we have to work on. Love is great, but relationships are about the art of compromise.
Agree with this. Far too many couples settle down to start a family without discussing vital things (well vital imo anyway) such as parenting, what religion the kids should be raised as etc and its only once the kids are born they realise they have different values that neither are willing to compromise on - leaving the kids playing piggy in the middle.
For me I think love is actually caring what the other party wants, when they've seen you at your worst and best and still love you regardless. When you're with that person, it feels like you're home.
As for the messy partner thing....I'm no neat freak (maybe a little OCD at times though) but my other half drives me mental with some of his habits. One in particular where he'll take an empty packet of crisps and leave it with his dirty plate up the side, when the bin is literally 3 ft away! Just as well I love him or else I'd have probably brained him by now :rotfl:You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
It's love when you're not yet/no longer wondering if there's space under the patio
I would have said it was love when you are regularly considering space under the patio but know you wouldn't ever use it (and not just because there's a better spot somewhere else :rotfl:)
I love my OH dearly but there are days when he infuriates me and vice versa.
He can't handle my mess, I don't like an OCD spotless house.
We will get there one day I'm sure.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Dammit, took me too long to type my reply in between answering calls at work, you beat me to it. Good to know I'm not the only one who has that feeling though! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I'm loving this thread, even though it is confirming what I already suspected - that I have never truly loved or been loved by, any of my partners. It is lovely to know that it exists :T I live in hope. Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass0

I love being in love, but I am also scared of it too. For me, love is when every pore of your body, is longing for the touch of that person, when you crave everything about them, and when you are spending time with them, and wishing time would stand still so that moment can last forever, as soon as you are away from them, you are already missing them.Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

That to me is being 'in love' rather than 'loving them'. I fell in love with my husband the second I saw him, and it felt like love, but looking back, I didn't love him until I trusted him completely and that took a lot longer.0 -

Got told one today by the Fella;
'It's a great feeling to know that somebody's got my back'.
My reply was 'Of course I have.'I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

I can sooooo relate to this^^^^^- my OH refuses to buy me a bookcase cos 'You would just fill it with books' - then complains there are piles of books everywhere! (I am hiding them in the spare room wardrobe at the moment - I live in fear he is going to need his 'funeral' suit which lives in there)0
